After upgrade to MacOS Mojave, I cannot login or connect to App Store.

I am using the latest MacBook Pro 2018 version. After upgrade to MacOS Mojave, I cannot sign out, login App Store or View my account. It always show "Cannot Connect to App Store". I also upgrade my iMac to MacOS Mojave, my iMac does not have this issue.

How can I fix this issue on my 2018 MacBook Pro?

Thank you

I found a solution that worked for me. It took me two steps, and all credit to BocaBoy in this thread: Re: Mojave installation fails: duplicate App Stores, can't sign in with Apple ID (Macbook Pro, Late 2016)

  1. Disable System Integrity Protection:
    1. Reboot the computer into restore mode (press command-R during startup)
    2. Select Terminal from the Utilities... menu
    3. Enter csrutil disable and press return
    4. Restart
  2. Back up and archive the folder in /Library/Security/Trust Settings before deleting them through Terminal. I'll copy BocaBoy's instructions here for you all:

OK, I just spoke with Apple engineering and they gave me a fix for this. It worked for me and it may work for you. You must know how to use Terminal and access hidden directories with Finder in the root of your drive.

First, make SURE that you've backed up the directory /Library/Security/Trust Settings. Copy it on your Desktop or Downloads directory, or wherever you'll be able to access it.

1. Again, back up the user certificate trust settings files described above. Then, remove them with the following commands, entering your administrator password when prompted:

cd "/Library/Security"

sudo ditto -ck "Trust Settings" TrustSettingsBackup.zip

cd "/Library/Security/Trust Settings"

sudo rm *.plist

2. Attempt to sign into the App Store.

This didn't work for me until I restarted at which point I was able to log in and see all of my accumulated updates. If you're not comfortable working at the system level, DON'T do this. If you are, this may fix your problem. It did for me.

Once you're sure that you've got the App Store working, you can delete the TrustSettingsBackup.zip file as well as the backup of the Trust Settings directory.

3. Reenable System Integrity Protection by repeating step 1 but using the command csrutil enable.

After I modified the Trust Settings directory, I was able to reboot and connect to the App Store and Books Store.

Good luck, everyone!

Thanks so much Checkyorself289!!

Finally, after spending 3 days digging into all forums finally I could successfully login into App Store just following the AppCleaner directions without re-installing the app!!

Important note: i had to follow the procedure twice since first time, after rebooting and opening AppStore, instead of logging in into appstore, I clicked one app update and same problem again....that was when i run again the appcleaner, rebooted, then logged in as first action after opening the AppStore App and worked well!!! So be sure your follow exactly these steps: 1)AppCleaner 2)reboot 3)open AppStore App 4)Log-ing 5) start using!!!

Not sure what is happening with Apple but this is not really acceptable.....

Thanks @Checkyorself289. The AppCleaner solution fixed my problem of the app store not being able to connect when I clicked the "View information" button.

To get apps to start downloading I also had to force quit all of the store processes as outlined in the "Kill the Culprit App Store Processes" section here:

Funny enough: after trying to repair it all ways that are described on that thread without any solution, I waited. At some point the problems basically went away by themselves. Not sure, whether s.th. was changed on apple side or (I suppose this was it) a change to the company network was made; perhaps their authentification requires special ports. I simply do not know, but it is weird and extremely annoying that there are no meaningful error messages, or logs.

Thank you Checkyorself289. This is the only fix that worked for me. Before the fix, the App Store would show that I am signed in but I could not see my purchased apps and and account information. It had the error "Cannot connect to App Store". I followed your instructions and after reboot, I tried to log in to the App Store but still could not connect. So I signed out and signed back in to the iCloud and reopened the App Store and bam! I can already see my purchased apps and account info!

You're true MrJingles. I thought everything was working since I saw that I was connected to the Store. But trying to download any update or any new app is still not working :-(

The issue is old and I 've never seen Apple taking so long to fix a so huge bug...

I've tried everything presented as a solution on the web : deleting plist with the Terminal, reinstalling Mojave, changing certificates settings, changing DNS servers, etc, etc.... No result.

This solution worked for me too.

I signed out of iCloud in System Preferences. Kept all the copies in the system when prompted.

Restarted the system and signed in back again in iCloud in System Preferences

I was already signed in to the Mac App Store as it used to be before I was having this issues. However I found the installed apps were not recognised as installed.

Once system was restarted again the App Store correctly recognised the installed apps.

Try this from my post earlier in the thread that has worked for many others.

So, in my situation, I have a brand new MacBook Air Retina Display. It came brand new with Mojave 10.14.2 and at first boot up, I had the issue of not being able to Sign In to the Apple Store, but was able to sign into all other things like iCloud Drive and iTunes. So, my experience was not from an upgrade, but a brand new computer boot up; not sure if that is relevant or not.

I went thru this thread, any many others, and tried all of them to no avail. The deleting certian "com.apple.appstore", folders, messing with the Trust Settings folder, etc. All of them.

What did finally seem to work for me, which by the way is now after I have updated to Mojave 10.14.3 (I thought that might resolve the issue as many of you probably hoped too), was using AppCleaner.

I have version 3.5.

Launch App Cleaner and then drag and drop the "App Store.app" onto the window. If it gives you an error prompt, just open the App Cleaner Preferences and uncheck the box next to "Protect default OS X apps" and then try it again.

Once successful, it will show all of the components associated with the App Store.app.

Select all of them EXCEPT for the App Store.app and the folder /Library/Application Support. For me, they were the first two in the list. Do Not delete those.

After that, I restarted and actually performed an install of Mojave 10.14.3 over my existing one, but I did not erase or delete anything.

When I completed the installation and restarted, I was able to Sign in "FINALLY" to the App Store.

Someone may want to test whether a reinstall is needed after removing the files. I did not try that. I just went straight to the reinstallation. I hope this works for some of you.

Yeah I had the same problem where I couldn't get into the app store and sign in from a fresh new computer, a macbook pro 13 in. I was fiddling with the files but ended up just reinstalling mojave and now I'm able to sign in but still unable to download apps from the store or update existing ones. When I click "view information" under my account it says that it cannot connect to the app store even though other pages load so it's really bizarre.

I really thought your solution would work for me too, but unfortunately no, on multiple MBP Retina 13" that had been wiped and fresh installed with Mojave 10.14.3 for new deployments. And tried all the other solutions suggested in many other locations.

BUT, updating to the v5, and now v6, Betas of 10.14.4 has fixed it (didn't try any earlier betas, sorry, so can't speak for those).

SUCCESS!

Source of the problem was definitely a bug in the app itself, I reckon.

Cheers!
