After upgrade to MacOS Mojave, I cannot login or connect to App Store.

I am using the latest MacBook Pro 2018 version. After upgrade to MacOS Mojave, I cannot sign out, login App Store or View my account. It always show "Cannot Connect to App Store". I also upgrade my iMac to MacOS Mojave, my iMac does not have this issue.

How can I fix this issue on my 2018 MacBook Pro?

Thank you

I found a solution that worked for me. It took me two steps, and all credit to BocaBoy in this thread: Re: Mojave installation fails: duplicate App Stores, can't sign in with Apple ID (Macbook Pro, Late 2016)

  1. Disable System Integrity Protection:
    1. Reboot the computer into restore mode (press command-R during startup)
    2. Select Terminal from the Utilities... menu
    3. Enter csrutil disable and press return
    4. Restart
  2. Back up and archive the folder in /Library/Security/Trust Settings before deleting them through Terminal. I'll copy BocaBoy's instructions here for you all:

OK, I just spoke with Apple engineering and they gave me a fix for this. It worked for me and it may work for you. You must know how to use Terminal and access hidden directories with Finder in the root of your drive.

First, make SURE that you've backed up the directory /Library/Security/Trust Settings. Copy it on your Desktop or Downloads directory, or wherever you'll be able to access it.

1. Again, back up the user certificate trust settings files described above. Then, remove them with the following commands, entering your administrator password when prompted:

cd "/Library/Security"

sudo ditto -ck "Trust Settings" TrustSettingsBackup.zip

cd "/Library/Security/Trust Settings"

sudo rm *.plist

2. Attempt to sign into the App Store.

This didn't work for me until I restarted at which point I was able to log in and see all of my accumulated updates. If you're not comfortable working at the system level, DON'T do this. If you are, this may fix your problem. It did for me.

Once you're sure that you've got the App Store working, you can delete the TrustSettingsBackup.zip file as well as the backup of the Trust Settings directory.

3. Reenable System Integrity Protection by repeating step 1 but using the command csrutil enable.

After I modified the Trust Settings directory, I was able to reboot and connect to the App Store and Books Store.

Good luck, everyone!

I wanted to double check my system for the "Previous Content' folder a poster posted several posts above, just to make sure I didn't have any left over stuff, even though my App store is working. The issue is, they didn't leave the path to where the folder was, and Google didn't bring back any results of a folder with that name regarding macOS.

Where was your Previous folder located with the other version of the App Store? It's not in my Applications folder, or root of the hard drive, or any other typical place I've searched.I initiated the command to create the locate database, so I'll use that in a bit, but if you could give any feedback on where you found the mentioned folder, would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks, I guess my upgrade got cleaned up correctly. I didn't have this folder. I also only have one copy of the Mac App Store. Everything's been a cool breeze here, ever since I cleaned up the App Store, and reset it to defaults by removing the files I mentioned in an earlier post.

One other note, while I use the App Store for some of my items, I really prefer to buy directly from the developer when possible, usually makes things easier to manage, and they are free to include features apple's App Store policies prohibit.

I seem to have the same issue. Here the two lines from system.log. Maybe somebody can make sense out of it...

OK, that's good. I wasn't having issues on either of my iOS devices. As you know I fixed my glitches on Mojave. Was more thinking since iOS, TVOS, and macOS share some of the same internals, that it could be a bug there. Since not, sounds like it's related to the Macs more specifically.

When Mojave works, it feels like a very nice ride. Hope Apple speaks up soon.

One of the hard things I find about helping on forums is you usually don't know the people directly, and can't handle the setups for myself. So I only have what the people say to go on. In this case though it sounds like Apple knows about this issue now, and it doesn't seem to be a specific group of people affected with any specific setup circumstances.

This isn't a question directly in line with the topic of this thread, but, is there a way to contact Mods here?

I was reading that they are the only ones that can change a username, and I would like this one changed to one of my nicknames I use on a more consistent basis. I created this years ago, and I don't even remember why I picked this name.

At this point in time, I think we have tried everything possible except a clean install. So all we can do is wait for Apple to come up with an answer. I for one won't drop this if I don't hear soon. This is my work computer, and in some form it is creating a problem for me. For one, I got into trouble for creating another account. This network I am on is a secure network, and a secure location. So I had to remove the second account. At least I didn't lose my administrator account.

OK lets do it this way.

1. After the first line was entered, did the line below that ask for password? If yes great and enter next line there will be no more prompts other than your MacBook Pro line. Then enter the next line also no prompts other than MacBook Pro. If all lines entered reboot. All should work. If you didn't get the prompt for password get back to us.
