Error installing macOS mojave

Have you tried deleting the installer from your Applications folder and re-downloading it?

Well that is where the clean install comes in. Once you reformat your disk to APFS it is empty. So you need a rescue drive with a working system that you can boot from. Onto this disk you download the installler. So the steps are:

1. Using an empty drive format it to APFS
2. Backup your MAC hard drive, I used CARBON COPY CLONER (CCC)so you now have an exact bootable copy of your existing hard drive (if you have a Time Capsule you can use Time Machine.
3. Reboot from this new backup drive
4. Erase the MOJAVE INSTALLER from the backup drive
5. Use DRIVE UTILITY to reformat your mac drive to APFS
6. Download MOJAVE installer from APP STORE
7. Clean Install MOJAVE on your empty drive
8. Restore files from back up drive (CCC or Time Machine)

No joy, multiple attempts. Backup, reformat as APFS drive, clean install, recover files from backup. This has worked on two Mac drives.

Delete the installer file from the application folder.

I have the same problem. When multiple routes, reset everything, got the installer from Apple store, Did an Internet install...the whole lot. There was a reference that laptops with T2 cannot be upgraded and we should wait for Apple to fix the problem. I have a late 2018 Macbook Pro with 6 core.

It is removed from your Otho all hard disk during the reformatting process. You can use an utility KOINGO’s MAC CLEANSE OR IOBIT’s MACBOOSTER to remove the install app from backup.

I also re-downloaded it but it did not help. Also re-set PRAM and run first aid. 2018 MBP with 6 core.

I am having the same error on a MacPro running High Sierra. I have erased the installer and the helper om.apple.installer.cleanupinstaller.plist with no joy. Now on eight attempt.

How did you download again? I am unable to delete the previously downloaded installer file. Please suggest. thanks

Not able to delete the installer. It is open. But when I try to close it, I get the endless spinning wheel and must hard boot. No change after several tries. HELP!
