just create a user like this https://support.apple.com/kb/PH25796?locale=en_US
Then enter to the appstore download mojave and thats it. next time you login, login to your regular user and you can delete the other user in system preferences. hope this helps :)

You have to check your boot disk to see if it has damaged sectors or cells.
If your disk is damaged, you have to repair it before you can install a new MacOS.
Click Finder. Open Applications folder. open Utilities and click Disk utility.
Select your boot disk on the side bar and click First Aid. Check your disk. Follow on-screen instructions.
Hope this helps.
Sorry to be dense - after you install Mojave on for the admin user, does this mean it will by the OS when you go back to your usual user - where your programs and data are? As fanc85 said, I don't want to lose access to all my work. Thanks very much!
FIXED
Fist check to see if our Fire Vault is turned on.
Go to:
Security & Privacy
Unlock and [Turn OFF Fire Vault]
System Reboot
Wait for decryption process to complete - takes a bit of time
After decryption process you can install Mojave.
After Mojave is loaded you can go back and [Turn ON Fire Vault] per your desired preferences.
Works perfectly fine without making other adminsitrtive accounts.
Thanks for the advice which worked a treat on my 14 month old MacBook Air . By the way its not a Fire Vault but a File Vault. Also at the end of the Mojave upgrade it invites you to turn on File Vault so you won't forget.
Why the Apple OS upgrade installation doesn't advise users to turn off File Vault to avoid the problem is very odd.
I had to go into systems preferences. Then security&privacy, then to fire vault and there was an item in the middle of the box that said "Some users not authorized". I checked the box to authorize users and only my name came up as administrator and I authorized myself. That fixed it.
After getting the details from an Apple Chat, I found this to be the solution. Here are the details:
Click on Settings, select Users & Groups, click on the + sign, and create a new admin by filling in the required names with anything you like - "test" for example. Then log out and log back in using "test" and install the update.
I solved it! I just created a admin user and install it there
i'm sorry. its not helping anything
already did that bht nothing seems to be
Thanks, this did the trick for me as well!
I got the same issue in 2016 MacBook Pro No Touch Bar, macOS High Sierra. Any official response from Apple?
Were you able to return to your other user after the install? I want to make sure I don't lose anything after the update.
i just created an alternative user no need to delete your current one. Install it on the admin one then delete if you want :)
how to create an admin user?
