Had my Xs Max for a few days now. Previous phone was a X that I had for a year. As soon as I switched to this phone, my 4 bars of cell service that I always had at home and work, went to 1 or maybe 2 bars in the same locations. Now I have trouble sending messages to android users through SMS because the signals so weak. Is there a fix for this? I don’t want to own a phone that I payed this much for, that gets this bad reception.
Great news. I returned my phone to Apple prior to 14 days and they replaced it with new one out of box, logs stated I had more than normal call dropouts. New phone is fine, previous handset must have had a hardware fault. Now that’s what I call premium support. 👍
It didn’t work for me. Went to AT &T got new SIM card today. Nothing is working. Called AppleCare twice. Nothing.
Yes you are right. I downloaded the iOS upgrade on same WiFi network. It took me 15minutes to download in 7 Plus and 40 freaking minutes on Xs Max. Tell me is that has nothing to do with the bars!

No fix yet and apple support says they never had any calls as of yet...

Nope, this has been ongoing for months. I’m on the verge of getting my money back and using my iPhone 6 which is fine.
They must have had loads of complaints. There is something seriously wrong with these phones
Same problem here, also randomly I will look at phone to open (with Face ID) and I’ll notice the time on home screen is 5 hours ahead, after reboot it’s fine....smh
I'm experiencing this same issue with my iPhone XS Max. I'd love to hear if there is any type of fix. This is really frustrating. Wish I could just go back to my X.
My XS Max has better performance than my X ever did.
It can take and make calls places my X never could.
At work I always had bad reception - I needed to find a certain place on my work desk where I had reliable LTE or at least 3G connection. Developed a habit of placing my iPhone there. The iPhone XS Max is the first iPhone that isn't able to keep LTE or 3G there (or any other place around - I really tried) it just falls back to Edge - which is as good as NO connection in modern times.
So - dear apple - this is not just a matter of having 2 instead of 3 bars ... It's affecting all day usability.
Same issue here with wifi.
I went to Apple today after testing at home with them a number of times. I have done clean sweeps of the phone and it was always an intermittent issue. Today they swapped out my iPhone Xs for another one. I came home and experienced the exact same issue with poor wifi connection. Seems to only be in areas where wifi signal is weaker but when I try with an iPhone 6S, 8 and iPads there is no issue.
No clue what to do here. To me it’s quite obvious this is a hardware issue.
