iMac 2011 for Mojave Upgrade

I have an iMac 27" mid 2011 with below specs.

Processor: 3.4 Ghz i7

Memory: 12Gb

Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6970 1024Mb

Storage Free: 350Gb

What is the reason why I can't upgrade to Mojave? Because this Mac is 2011?

Hoping to get a reasonable response on this matter. THanks

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), graphics card

problem is the AMD Radeon HD 5xxx/6xxx series GPU acceleration. Currently, it is not possible to get full graphics acceleration when running Mojave on a system with a Radeon HD 5xxx or 6xxx series GPU. Mojave will be almost UNUSABLE without graphics acceleration. This includes the 15" and 17" MacBook Pro systems (MacBookPro8,2 and 8,3). If you want to enable GPU acceleration on these machines, you'll need to disable the AMD GPU (This will work on MacBook Pro 8,2 and 8,3 systems ONLY. You CANNOT disable the AMD GPU in an iMac.)

I'm puzzled. What new features in Mojave are required for your job? AFAIK there is nothing in Mojave that will materially affect how you do your day job. If High Sierra works fine for you there is no need for an upgrade. High Sierra will still receive security patches. I have a 2011 iMac too btw.

Alternatively if you are desperate for Dark Mode you can sell your 2011 buy a 2012 or newer iMac. You will probably get a good price for the 2011 mode as they are sought after for still having a DVD drive and being upgradable to 32Gb ram.

I think Apple should be more loyal to customers .They should release drivers for Radeon 5xxx and 6xxx maybe with reduced functionalities to permit users to upgrade to newest os this is not obsolescence is programmed obsolescence

Recently Apple showed is unloyalty to many customer (for example i have a macook pro 2016 that is so unreliable after 3 fixes should be replaced but misters at Apple prefers to appear robotic and lose customers) .. this will happen more and more if Apple will not be great again.Stocks are reflecting this value loss ...hope they will change .. listening to angry macook pro and imac 2011 customers could be a fresh air for you @apple
