Do my reasons for not upgrading to the current iPhone make sense?

Before you hang up on this post saying to yourself, "how should 'I' know what the OP considers important for such a personal decision", hear me out.

My wife and I both have the 6 with the lowest data plan (16GB storage, 2GB shared data/mo.--Verizon) and do not have a burning need for a newer phone, except for the following:

1. Standard XR doubles our existing memory 16GB to 34GB. Wife wife has lots of memory remaining I do not (2.9GB free with a few apps removed I'd prefer on the device). Plus, the XR is only ~$100 more than the 6 (although there are no huge hardware discounts available now as there were when we purchased our 6's).

2. Despite the modest bump in speed with iOS12, the phone is definitely too slow from some apps.

3. I'm really ready for a larger screen for ease of general reading (news outlets).I think my wife's eyes would also welcome the size increase.

4. It appears the only significant things I'm giving up for the lowest price new XR iPhone are things we do not use: fancier screen, fancier back and fancier camera.

5. As a general statement since this is not going to change in the future, I hate the idea of no earphone jack. If I wanted to listen to audio at the gym. Their TV's broadcast using an extremely short range transmitter on their particular frequencies. You need the wire of the earphone that acts as the required antenna. I use my Nano for the gym but it looks like Apple is getting away from the Nano and all things mechanical die at some point.

6. Per past performance, next year's phones will only be more expensive.

Why we or I would wait until next year:

1. I'd love a stylus and maybe it'll come next year (thought it might be on these phones but not). Even if it does come next year, my luck it'll only be available on the more expensive models.

2. Next year would be the cycle that Apple releases killer changes to their hardware and one of the whatever features 'might' be something very handy.

3. Verizon is offering no deals on the new phones. I'm sure they'll offer deals of the '18/'19's once Apple releases the '19/'20's...?

4. No 5G chip, maybe so for 2019/2020.

I've read that difficult decisions are frequently defined as such since there is no logical answer to A or B--I don't know if that's the case here or I'm too close my pro's and con's to see a winner?
