No ping on some text messages
I have several friends who text me. Some I get a ping on and some I don't. Just got a new phone, but the problem existed on the old phone too. Any explanation?

If that's not the issue, then go to settings>general>reset and choose to reset all settings. Keep in mind that this will make your iPhone forget Wi-Fi passwords, Bluetooth pairing history, it will also reset touch ID/face ID and other things.
