I cannot type anything into my terminal window. The details are shown in the image attached with this post. The problem began after I installed mac os High Sierra. I upgraded to mac os Mojave recently but the problem persists. Your help and precious suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

When you see that
[Process completed]
the Terminal session has ended, and nothing you type will work. Quit the Terminal application and relaunch it.
Typing control-D in the Terminal will cause the [Process completed], but exit or quit will not.

As others have said, you can't type anything because the process has ended and nothing's listening.
What you see is an error message from the "login" command, saying there's no "-n" option, which implies you're trying to run "login -n" ... whatever that does.
Perhaps the version of "login" on the macOS you used prior to High Sierra allowed that option.
If you go to Terminal->Preferences, and check the "General" tab for "Shells open with:", and the "Profiles" tab for "Run command", you might find the culprit.
If not, the error might be in one of your shell profiles (e.g. ~/.bash_profile)
Did you try typing the letter "q" for quit?
Did you try force quit?

Wow that's an odd one. I just got on here to look for opinions on upgrading from High Sierra 10.13.6 to Mohave. Seems as that made no difference to you. I just tried Terminal for fun, and it worked fine on my MacBook Air (11-inch, Early 2015). Used su, logged in as root, nothing unusual. Sorry I cannot offer more. Gonna update I think, so those annoying messages will go away ;0)
