iOS 12 Text Select Problems

I’m having a similar issue with both my ipad and iphone when selecting text in Safari. It will jump to the first letter of the work when i try to move the blue dot to the next word(s). Super frustrating and quite rediculous that this is happening...

Hope it helps. It’s been frustrating me for months.

Sometimes once you get it to select text, the copy function won’t pop up! In that scenario if I’m on a page where I’m attempting to do select all, I need to tap the empty space at the bottom of it. Or if it’s one paragraph, again I must tap the empty space at the end of the paragraph.

I’m having the same problem but only in WordPress.

I can highlight one word or from that word to end of text. Noting in between.

Can’t move the end edit marker once it sets.

I use my phone to edit blogs for a living and right now I can’t do my job on my phone.

Anyone seen a solution?

I have the same problem on my iPad since ios12. I do a lot of text editing and this problem is making my iPad almost useless for me and extremely time consuming waiting to delete by keeping my finger on the back button. Something needs to be done quickly.

Do Apple actually respond to these boards?

I have the same problem. It has been an issue with Wordpress ONLY, since the iOS update before last. (Two updates ago)

Yesterday, I did another iOS update, and now I have the SAME issue on certain other webpages when using my iPad.

I thought this was a problem with WordPress, and reported to them more than a month ago. No resolution on from Wordpress, since they are gung ho on releasing Gutenberg, much to the dismay of their users and subscribers.

But now that other web pages are exhibiting the same frustrating problem, I see that this is most likely an iOS issue.

This is a huge pain in the rear, and Apple needs to fix this ASAP.

VERY annoying, and frankly disgraceful that it hasn’t been fixed promptly.

I can sometimes select OK in this forum, but everywhere else it makes iPad work almost impossible. Even here, although I quickly made that word ‘can’ above bold, it then took me a couple of minutes to continue in normal font.

BTW, I note that once again my shortcuts don’t work here.

Some basic features like this CAN’T BE subject to “bug”, and that kind of problem appeared many years ago...

I don’t expect they will fix that since it’s a deliberate malfunction to make people crazy to push them buying the generation next... imho.

My iPad started doing this a few updates back. I always have to tap an empty space near the word to make a selection.

Has anyone tried to copy on this page? It works perfectly. Just NO where else in safari that I have tried.

Apple usually doesn’t monitor the forum. They prefer us to repeat the issues on support.
