Anybody have battery draining issue on iOS 12 ????
I'm having the same issue. I updated to the new ios 12 a couple of days ago. Yesterday, my battery life plummeted. Very light use and was it was dropping %'s within minutes. Had to charge twice yesterday just to keep it from going completely dead. Under normal use, it lasts me a full day.
Please see the suggestions above. And in the link DIRECTLY above yours, I've posted links to contact Apple Support as well as a link to leave feedback . Use those.
Remember if your device was recently updated IT IS NORMAL FOR SOME BATTERY DRAIN while your device indexes. This is a normal occurrence. Give it a few days.
I had similar issue with my iPhone 6 Plus.
Check your battery health if it’s in the low 80 percent and then most likely you need to change your battery.
I just got mine changed in staple for 30 dollars and I haven’t had any problems.
Late to this thread, but iPhone 7 on iOS 12.01. It’s the screen that’s draining my battery. And before everyone screams to turn the brightness down, it’s turned way, way down. The battery app in settings says my battery has 95% life.
When I’m using tracking apps for cycling and hiking, the gps isn’t much of a drain at all, the screen is off and I get excellent battery usage. When I’m using twitter or Safari (my most used apps on the phone) I’m getting about 2 1/2 to 3 hours of battery life. That’s ridiculous! I’m letting the battery drain completely, it’ll die sometime tomorrow, maybe that‘ll trigger a reset, but I’m not hopeful. I’ve never had trouble with iOS upgrades, but this one isn’t good.
Hi carol, I have the 6s Plus (100%) battery life . I did the 12.1 , made it a little better than the 12 , I don’t use the phone much at all, but did make a slight improvement. I am actually trying a Samsung now . Had enough with ever update being an issue ! Good luck! Maybe try the 12.1 update and see if it improves
Same thing with my iPad Air 2. I dont use a lot during the day, but now it seems constant on a charger. They have me do the complete install with the phone ( yes , ridiculous) . I did do the 12.1 update as suggested on the thread somewhere, helped a little, but unfortunately it is nothing like before .
The battery draining issue started for me when updated my iPhone 5s with ios 12.0. A few days later ios 12.0.1 became available, so I applied the update. Since then my phone has been working pretty well. It is not draining as badly. I will continue to monitor it. If it continues, I'll have the battery checked.
My recommendation to everyone is to install ios 12.0.1.
Good luck, all.
I updated to iOS 12.0.1 when it became available and my battery drain is horrendous and FAR FAR worse then when iOS 11.
Example - I had roughly 75% battery power, I checked a website for about a minute on a 4G signal and I was down to 35% and then quickly 29%.
This morning I had a fully charged phone, when for a run using Nike Run App and 56 minutes later my phone shut down due to no power (restarted a couple of minutes later with 10% low power mode).
The battery check laughably shows that I have 100% of original capacity etc.
Mine is an iphone 6.
I know your’s is an iPad and mine is iPhone but it doesn’t matter . Mine battery was also fine it was like 82 percent and right after my iOS update it started failing.
This is because there latest update has battery check and other updates that causing this to malfunction
When u check the health what was your percent?
Also how old is the iPad ?
As soon as I changed the battery I haven’t had any issues.
The iOS update caused this and weak battery will fail.
I spoke with the staples tech and he said it is a battery issue since apple had this problem before ...
And trust me my phone will drain and then if I plug it in and do a reset ( 2 buttons held down) I willl get the battery meter to go from 10 percent back to 90 percent .
And right after I changed the battery I have not had this problem
I was so upset with apple sin e this was the 1st time have experience any issue with my iPhone and I have been a member since iPhone 1 all I ever had was an iPhone .
I wanted to throw this to a brick wall bec. It will also crash on me. When doing anything one time I was depositing to my bank and it shut off . I had 100 percent but as soo. As it shut off and then turned it back on it goes to 10 percent and I could produce the same thing over and over .
And it’s the iOS update and battery .
But as soon as I changed the battery it was good .
The iOS update is the culprit.
Well let me know if it is something else I want to know if it’s something else so I can inform other who experience problems
Carlito,
My battery is at 95%. Even at 82%, a phone or iPad shouldn't be draining this quickly. And we shouldn't have to go through all these machinations to get the phone to work efficiently. Hopefully, Apple will get whatever the problem is fixed for iOS 12.1. I let the battery drain completely, so the counter could reset, and now I get maybe 3 hours instead of 2 1/2.
For me, it's a screen problem. My phone doesn't drain when I use a tracking app with the screen off, the gps is not draining the battery, it's working quite efficiently. But when I read from Instapaper, where there's almost no actual activity, just the screen on (and set low), the battery drains rapidly.
Even after updating to version 12.0.1, my iPhone 5s continues to drain rapidly. The draining isn't quite as fast as when it was running 12.0. This morning I opened Preferences to check over some settings. The battery drained from 95% to 75% in approximately 15 minutes.
My iPad has started draining really fast for the last few days. It was lasting 3-4 days on a full charge before it got to around 25 % when I would charge it. Now it lasts less than a day. The iPad is fairly new and should not be draining like this. I closed all apps and did a restart and no change. This is ridiculous.
That is the same problem that I had with my 6 month old Ipad. I took it to the Apple store, and they did a diagnosis on it and rectified my problem. Very satisfied, and now I can go a couple of days without having to charge.
They ran a diagnosis on it, and said that I needed a new Ipad, it was new in April, 2018. They told me that they don't replace the batteries in Ipads. I contacted Apple through this site, and I had the option to go to an Apple store or they would send me a mailer to mail the Ipad to them to check it out, and figured it would probably take a week, including the ship time. I set up through this site for them to call me, and they called right away. Hope this helps.
I am having the same problem with my iPhone 6s. My battery indicates it's working at 82% - it is a couple of years old. But previous to the iOS 12 update I could use it all day, maybe switching to low battery mode late in the evening. Now I have to fully charge it by early afternoon - and am below 10% by the time I go to bed. It actually shut down one day last week - after it had been fully charged at noon.
This is not 82% of what I experienced before the upgrade. 82% is more like 30-50% now that I'm running iOS 12.
