I have an 2 years old iPhone 7 (normal one, not Plus) and with iOS 11 and 12 (even 12.1) the battery drains in 3-4 hrs and need to recharge 3 times a day (or more). That was until last week that I went to a Premium Reseller (in my country we don't have official Apple Stores) and do a battery change. The phone with the new battery last 8 or more hours, and only charges once in a day! So the solution for me was the battery replacement. Also, I was noticing that my battery gets hot for the 2 years that I bought the phone until the replacement. The new one doesn't do that!

Carlito,

My battery is at 95%. Even at 82%, a phone or iPad shouldn't be draining this quickly. And we shouldn't have to go through all these machinations to get the phone to work efficiently. Hopefully, Apple will get whatever the problem is fixed for iOS 12.1. I let the battery drain completely, so the counter could reset, and now I get maybe 3 hours instead of 2 1/2.

For me, it's a screen problem. My phone doesn't drain when I use a tracking app with the screen off, the gps is not draining the battery, it's working quite efficiently. But when I read from Instapaper, where there's almost no actual activity, just the screen on (and set low), the battery drains rapidly.

They ran a diagnosis on it, and said that I needed a new Ipad, it was new in April, 2018. They told me that they don't replace the batteries in Ipads. I contacted Apple through this site, and I had the option to go to an Apple store or they would send me a mailer to mail the Ipad to them to check it out, and figured it would probably take a week, including the ship time. I set up through this site for them to call me, and they called right away. Hope this helps.

Yep. We've noticed diminished battery life as well.

I have an iPhone 6s. I put it in Airplane mode when I'm driving and I don't use Siri. I've turned off all of that Siri short-cut nonsense -- you'd think there would be a single place to do that, but no. I rarely use my phone, only to keep in touch with my spouse when she's out of town on business. (Mostly through Message). I have 3 bars of service and connected to home WiFi. Since installing the latest iOS 12, my idle phone is draining 25% of it's battery per day, just sitting there. Battery health is 96%, last time I checked, and yes, I've shut it off etc... Looks like I need to start making backups before upgrading iOS, so that I can go back to a previous version.

It's not just an iPhone problem either. My iPad Pro (previous version) used to last me a solid a week, reading news, Ars Technia, USA Today crossword, iTunes on Tuesdays, local grocery's flyer on Wednesdays... Now I need to plug it in every 3 1/2 days or so.

I also have an older iPad Air that I keep in the bedroom so that I can use the Home App to turn on/brighten lights around the house in the morning. That's the only thing I use it for, and since installing iOS 12, it needs to be plugged in every 8 days, where it used to go for weeks.

I also have an even older iPad that sits in my office in the basement. I kept it so that I could use the Home App -- this was before Apple bought Home to macOS. It is running iOS 11.4.1. I charged it recently and I've used it for 46 minutes, it's been idle for 121 hours (about 5 days), and it still has 95% battery remaining.

Don't tell me that there's not a huge battery drain in iOS 12.

I had no issue with iOS 11.3 then I updated to 11.04 and I was crashing and shutting down and when I boot up I ended up with like 10 percent.

I updated to iOS 12 and still a problem and I did it also with a complete wipe.

I have been a true apple/ iPhone user since iPhone 1 and this is the only time I’d like to throw this phone on the wall.

When it shuts me down it sometimes don’t turn on unless I have it plug into an outlet or my portable charger.

Sometimes if I do a reset with both button pressed I’t does boot up to the 90 percent instead of 10 percent.

Please apple give me a new phone or you may have lost a true customer.

I paid over 800 for this iPhone 6 Plus when it came out now it’s like a brick which I’d like to throw on the wall.

Sorry for my frustration but I also use this for work and it’s not very productive.

Nothing but problems after ios 11.4! I have iPad 2018 and iPhone SE and both have had many issues during the last 5 months. Battery draining is worse again with the new ios. Most of the apps don’t work properly. They don’t open or sometimes they open after many tries. Every time when an app doesn’t open the phone starts to warm up and the battery goes down faster. Most of Apple’s own apps work ok but Safari sometimes freezes. For example I shut down my phone today and removed and installed again the app ”Polar Beat”. It started once after it and second time only ”black screen”. (iPad has same issues but I can’t notice warming up.) iPhone doesn’t find SIM card in spite of the right PIN code sometimes. I have to try few times.

I can’t understand what happened to ios after 11.3.3. Everything worked so well with it. My wife has an iPad air 2 with ios 11.3.3 and it’s more than ok! I was so annoyed in June when problems started but nowadays I’m surprised if something even works. APPLE take some responsibility for your products!!

I tend to agree. I won't go as far as to say they did it on purpose, but this iOS is taking a LOT more battery just to keep the phone on. I left it on the counter for a few hours and the battery drain was over 40%. It was on, but it was just sitting there - and no, I do not have a lot of apps running in the background. Before this upgrade, with my battery in the same state it is now, it would have gone down a few to several percent - not 40%.
