Apple Health doesn't sync properly with Garmin Connect

I have Garmin Connect set up to feed steps to Apple Health but Apple Health consistently under tracks. So for example yesterday I did 11,200 steps on my Garmin Fenix 5 but Apple Health only shows around 1,700 steps. When I look at data sources in AH I can see entries from Apple Device itself and some from GC. So clearly there is a feed/connection established and open between Apple and Garmin, but for some reason Apple doesn't receive/count all the step data. When I raised this with Garmin support they said it's an Apple issue and there's nothing they can do. If that's the case then I would assume many if not all Garmin users are having the same problem? Any thoughts very much appreciated.

iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 12 (problem was same on iOS 11)

Garmin Connect iPhone App up to date

Thanks!

Did you make sure, that in Health/Sources/Apps/Connect-> write data is enabled for all categories?

If you scroll down in this section to "data", tap on it and check Activities/Steps, can you see data collected from the Garmin Connect app? If yes, there should be the connect app icon and the number and date when the data has been collected.

Hi Ingo2711 - thanks and yes, write data is enabled and yes I can see data being collected from Garmin Connect. In fact if I add all the Garmin Connect data collections they are accurate ie add up to 11k which is what i am seeing on my Garmin, however Apple Health only shows a total of 1,700. So all the components are there in the data feed, but the summation is completely incorrect.

Yes I raised this in the Garmin forum too and so far someone has agreed with my observation but no one has offered a solution. I can't believe I'm the only one seeing this problem.
