ios 12 voice memo problems

EVERYONE GIVE APPLE FEEDBACK! PLEASE!!!

Just “Removed “ Voice Memos, downloaded it from AppStore—i.e., iCloud since app was previously on my phone. Bluetooth music on my 2013 Toyota Camry worked as expected, stopping and starting music—from my iPhone xR and with Camry touchscreen—and switching sources to FM and back to Bluetooth UNTIL I RECORDED a test VOICE MEMO. After that, only the test voice memo kept playing, and repeatedly, only stopping momentarily when I touched the “play” arrow on my iPhone (upper right corner controls) to try to stop it before automatically restarting from the beginning of the memo until I shutoff Bluetooth on my iPhone.

Give Feedback to apple for what??? A phone thats costs over 2k cannot get a simple program like audio recorder work is a joke! I am unsure how these companies are allowed to brand their phones as the most advanced Mobile Operating System.

It is the responsibility of Apple to fix it and not force customers to install a full IOS update.. there must be an update only to fix issues with voice memos and other programs.

Or there should be an option for a partial refund.

Seems we are alone here. I actually wanted to hellopeter Apple, I’m so frustrated by this. This delete and reinstall solution is not a bug fix it’s a work around. I regret updating to this new IOS version.

DUMP “Voice Memos” APP!!!

I found that if you download “Music Memos” app and delete “Voice Memos”, then car Bluetooth and voice memos will coexist and fully function.

BTW, APPLE DOESN’T CARE ABOUT FEEDBACK on “Voice Memos”!!! NO LINK for the app!!!

Regarding these IOS 12 (12.1.2 update) Voice Memo problems discussed on the discussions.Apple.com prim posts entitled "iOS12 Voice Memo problems," I am a long-time, accredited member of the press. I am in Las Vegas this week to cover CES (the annual Consumer Electronics Show) for my internationally syndicated column (numbering 573 installments since 2002). As other people have commented here, and unfortunately as I can now attest, this serious iOS problem related to unwanted and virtually unstoppable Voice Memo playback via Bluetooth in car radios, has been going on for months now. It still exists as of today, January 8, 2019.

Late last night, as I was driving back to my hotel from an after-hours press event following a long, tiring day of pre-CES press conferences, I was trying to listen to a song in my 2012 Prius via Bluetooth from my iPhone X. Instead of a song, it played back a Voice Memo that I recorded of the Sony press conference earlier that day at the Consumer Electronics Show (my most recent Voice Memo recording). All control of the car radio, except for adjusting the volume, was disabled. The only thing I could do to stop this was power down the iPhone. Then control return to the car radio.

This is absolutely unacceptable and it has been going on for months. Aside from a few unfortunate AppleCare representatives who have had to try to deal with this serious and unresolved issue with a core iOS program, does anyone higher up at Apple know about this or care enough to actually fix it, or to bring back the old, unbroken version of Voice Memos? Is anyone from Apple at the Corporate level aware any of these comments?

If this is a joke I am not laughing. Instead, I am seriously considering the inclusion of this observation In my internationally syndicated column as part of my coverage of CES this year.

What is with Apple? There are lots of other (and less expensive) cell phones on the market. I guess maybe I should look into giving in and getting one, to finally end my suffering with the seemingly never-ending series of problems with half-baked, buggy iOS updates. Apple should not have changed the Voice Memos program. It was working fine before.

Fellow iPhone owners, and especially Apple, your feedback would be welcome, especially from Apple.

I have this problem too. I recorded something and minutes were lost from the record even though it shows me that the record has 14 minutes, in fact it was 11:05. Another record was completely deleted even though it appeared to have 6:12 minutes. It is very annoying! I was very pleased with the IOS 10 version regarding this app.

i do not like the new voice memo app. It turns on automatically when I start my car. Today in the doctor’s office, when I tried to use my phone, it just started playing out loud in the waiting area. Right now, I’m in my car, and it is constantly turning on and off. The only thing I can do is turn the volume all the way down (i.e., to “mute”) on my phone. It is possessed! Apple, PLEASE fix this!!

If downloading and re-installing (losing all your recordings) is Apple's recommendation, someone at Apple needs to be spanked. Why do they keep trying to re-invent things that work well. I use Voice Memos for music, songwriting, and many other things. If you must change something, change the colors. This new version is counter-intuitive and doesn't allow you to pause while recording. It also has a bug where it will not let you save a 'trimmed' memo.

I can confirm that 5 months later and several updates this HAS NOT BEEN FIXED.

I’ve had other weird glitchy behavior (Buttons not behaving, having to force close, unable to trim, unable to rename file) since iOS. I’m embarrassed for Apple that they didnt catch it before they made an official release. And that an update this buggy could be unfixed on millions of iPhones for half a year? Really?

The Bluetooth issue is the worst. For me, my car thinks it’s a phone call that I can’t hang or or stop in any way (continuous loop) short of turning off my phone. Yes, even force closing somehow doesn’t fix it. The next time I record a memo, the process starts all over again.... Boo.

I had the same problem. My brother called me during a recording, which I declined. The recorder showed a timer still incrementing and when I got to the end I didn't stop recording but switched so to send a message and the RED BAR was at the top showing me the app was still active.

When I got home I only had 2:06 instead of 10 minutes. AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!

Why Apple? Why?

Don't we all get it by now? Apple Corporate just does not care what we think. We can co plain to each other on forums that they have provided to us, or we spend hours and even days and weeks by calling AppleCare and even speaking to a supervisor — and they may understand, agree with and be completely sympathetic to our concerns, but they and anyone else that we can reach are, intentionally, absolutely powerless to change anything, ever. The decision makers at Apple have willfully isolated themselves from us — the very customers who made them so wealthy and successful in their business.

I just had the same thing happen to me as jamesD1957. The app has a serious flaw making it unusable...especially in a car connected by Bluetooth. Very very frustrating. Apple has really let me down with this issue.

I called apple about it a few times, they had me reset my phone 2x. Then they said it was related to my car and not the phone.

I do not think its the car because when I turn off the car, the phone turns itself on again. Even if I turn the voice memos off before shutting off the car. As soon as the car is off the phone voce memos start again.

I have to pen the voice memo to turn it off. Like it operating without even being turned on, on the iPhone.

Can any tell me how to unpause the voice memos?

When you are trying to edit a voice memo, it sometimes pauses like its thinking. It won't play or edit you're recording.

you can hit play many times, it reverts back to pause. Then it sometimes closes the app. Shutting down the app does not fix this problem. You literally have to turn off the entire phone and restart it....just to edit a voice memo.

Is there an alternative voice memo app anyone knows of?

I wish the old voice memo could be returned.

Once upon a time, his app was great. It did exactly what you needed it to do. Use a mic, record an audio, clip & rerecord. It’s frustrating. SO frustrating. This is the worst experience with Apple’s app.

You use the app to record what you’re saying.. it records.. then it doesn’t save it? How? It’s the most maddening thing ever especially for bossiness purposes and work efficiency.

It’s been going on so long I learned to duplicate the recording so I can “refresh” and try a new recording... and sometimes that doesn’t even work.

I’m glad I’m not the only one losing my mind because of these “software glitches.”

Please fix this ASAP
