iPhone XS Max - black screen of death

Happened to me too.

is something weird with the X series.

Beginning last year my X switched off showing the battery and lightning logo on screen but even plugged in it didn’t charge so got a replacement probably something wrong with the battery or software I don’t know.

Yesterday my Xs Max switched off I was feeling it hot and then when come back from WC it was totally dead so I plugged in it and nothing it didn’t even show the battery empty symbol even in the wireless charger pad was showing the light like if charging then this morning after all night charging it was on with 20% battery.

very very weird happening to so many people,I really hope Apple find the problem or do a replacement program as is no fear .

I had same issue, support said normaly a safety concern, but since it only happened once they want me to monitor it.

I waited for it to charge.

What does the Battery settings pane say is using up your battery?

Also, not all wireless chargers are the same; you want one that will deliver 7.5w of power.

I've just also experienced the same problem today about 5hrs ago it happened now - done the volume up & down and then holding down the button on the right side of the phone - still it hasn't turn back on - it's plugged in charging and will try again. bought my phone on the 26/12/18...so, worried this is happening but reassured I'm not the only one it's happening too.

If this is a software issue...why hasn't apple put through a fix via a software update? as the problem hasn't gone away. I rely heavily on my phone as do most of us...paying so much for an apple phone you expect that you're paying for quality...this problem is falling way short of what I expect of a flagship Apple product

the same thing literally just happened to me today. i thought it was just a glitch i let it sit charged so i could check back on it later but its still black. went through that whole list of volume button side button sequence and nothing works still.

Same, but the reset procedure up volume, down volume, other side button didn't work on mine. I had someone call my phone and it rang, so it's not dead, just black screen. Weird...and super annoying! I need to set my alarm on my phone and go to bed!

Same thing happened to me. Phone is less than one month old. The volume up, down, right button reset did nothing. Tried charging, and nothing. Calling my number says “person cannot be reached now” and my phone does not ring. Charging with different Apple charger and nothing. This is awful. I bought this because I wanted a 2 SIM phone since I travel a lot. Wouldn’t you know? I am currently in a country with NO Apple stores or authorized dealers. Terrible. Surely expected better with such an expensive device.

Same issue- know phone is charged, set it down for 20 minutes, picked it up and see black screen. Tried the volume up & down trick, no luck. Have had some minor issues prior with it acting “stuck” on the black screen but typically resolves within seconds. Have it on the charger now and will be taking it to a store tomorrow if it doesn’t come back. Also still having issues with the Bluetooth connecting to my car and other non apple devices. Not very happy with the glitch’s that come with this phone.

new iphone xs max is only 6 days old. i was using it to send a message, after sending the message, i locked it and kept it on the table. i reached for it again to check for replies but when i tapped on the screen (its supposed to wake with a slight tap on the screen), the screen was just black. i clicked the side button but nothing happened. i tried reset, nothing happened. i had a chat with an apple advisor and made me do the reset drill again but it didn't work. also tried charging for 30 mins, tried turning it on again but that didn't work either. i made an appointment in an apple store tomorrow and i am hoping they will change this device. its not fair to settle for a repair when i have just used the phone for only 6 days! :( this is really sad.. :( this phone isn't cheap.

I just bought my phone 2/25/2019

and apple has not fixed this issue it just happened to me last night 2/26/19 nothing would work tried all the reset options .. I just put it on the charger and this morning it was on this is very disappointing considering how much this phone cost

Happened to me today. IPhone XS was working just fine, I sat it down for 5 minutes and came back to a black screen. I tried the hard reset, reboot and still not working. I had 82% battery so I’m not sure what the issue is. I will see if it powers on in the morning. Good thing I have my backup IPhone 8 Plus. If not. I’ll have to take to Apple store in Japan and they may not understand what I mean. Very disappointing, phone is only 5 months old

had the same problem i woke and my iPhone xs max didn't turn on. the battery just died on my though phone just won't work can't believe a new phone has a problem like this

Any man-made device can fail, including Androids.

Even new Ferraris sometimes fail within days of being driven off the lot.

My aunts iPhone also got a black screen but the voiceover thing is turned on and every time I press the on and volume up,down it calls emergency’s (911)
