Will an update fix signal issues for XS and XS Max?

I bought an iPhone XS (for my wife) and XS Max (for me) on launch day. I’m now getting dropped calls (in places I’ve never dropped calls before), random undeliverable texts, poor LTE speeds (<1Mbps!!) and poor WiFi performance. Our older iPhone 6 and 7 Plus, which thankfully we still have, has better WiFi throughput in our house and gets a signal in all areas of the house. The newer phones lose signal in our bedroom sometimes, which is only 30 ft from the router. No more WiFi signal at our mailbox or even the front door. If an update will fix these problems, then I will wait. If not, or there are no guarantees, I will return them. We love everything else about the phones. We just need the cellular and WiFi performance issues resolved. Thanks.

Man att charged me the restocking fee (1st phone I returned) although after chatting with a CS rep it was credited to my account. To tell you the truth I had to go through 6 phones to get one that was working (Still slower LTE than my 7 and wifi 5GHz after 50 ft goes down to 1 bar from 3 but way better than the ones before it) 12.1 final version did nothing in reality to my wife's phone as it is still slower than my 7 on LTE (My work XS does 30+ mbps download whereas my personal 7 pulls 90+) and on our Gigabit internet took her 1.5 hours to update 10 apps because I left the phone in our room and closed the door (17 apps needed to be updated overall) but today because I could not return it anymore I went to an apple store and exchanged hers and seriously hers is now as fast as my 7 on LTE, well 75 mbps CONSTANT and has a stronger connection over wifi than my works XS and faster too. I have written this before and I know it is a hassle but maybe exchanging them again would work for you. I know there are many people here telling you to wait and wait and wait for another update, dude when you can't use your gps, nor make calls longer than 2 min because it drops, nor load pages consistently, you can't be waiting for an update.

I just purchased my Iphone XS a few days ago and I totally switched from Verizon to AT&T. Tonight I am working at a hospital that I had a small amount of service in with Verizon but no I have zero service. I am wondering if that is an AT&T thing or if it has to do with the phone. I haven't had any other serious issues with the phone other than here at the hospital. I guess it could just be the hospital blocking signals out due to HIPPA, someone told me they do that.

I bought my iPhone XS 10 days ago and noticed immediately a degrading or absent cell and signal. I had a iPhone 5 and no issues with cell service. I dial a number but the call shows as a failure. Two minutes later, doing nothing different, the phone is fine and shows full bars. My husband has a Motorola Droid on the same Verizon network and has full bars when I have none. I have been checking throughout the day and over half the time, the phone shows no bars.

I'm not a heavy phone caller or texter and feel very apprehensive about keeping this phone and trusting a fix is on it's way. After all, if a phone can't be counted on to make a phone call or send a text after paying $1,000, what good is it to me?

I love all the features of this phone and just want it fixed.

Do I return it and try a new XS or just go with another brand?

If this is the case, can anyone tell me why would my husband’s Motorola phone, who is sitting 2 feet from me, same carrier, have 4 bars and my iPhone XS has zero? I ask him to call my phone and his is dialing but mine does not ring? I’ve tested this over and over in the past 12 days, with same result. Then minutes later, sometime 5 or more go by, and my bars are back.

The Verizon rep didn’t want to give me another apple phone and said it would likely have the same issue because all she could focus on was my rural address. She wanted me to get a Motorola like my husband because his has good reception. So I just reactivated my old phone. It says something if you have to try six to get one to work. Nearest Apple store is 3 hours away. I’m sad giving that phone back.

iPhone XS drops calls, can’t connect to LTE at times, and WiFi strength is very poor. I had 3 devices running speed tests one right after the other sitting next to each other and the other devices pulls speeds almost 300 up and 250 down and iPhone pulls 52 up and 20 down. For the amount if money I spent on this phone you’d expect lightning speeds! I’m beyond frustrated!

A good thought, but not reality. I lose service in the busiest corridor of my state on occasion. It's not NYC, but there are hundreds of thousands of people in that area at any given moment of the day. I've never had an issue previously and I'm sure others do not have it with their other devices. It's not a tower, carrier, or LTE problem. I'm glad that yours seems to work better now, but my service is sporadic and unpredictable no matter my location. I can show "two bars" or a full stack of LTE or 4G service and never get data coming or going. This happened as recently as this evening. Same thing on wi-fi occasionally. Conversely, the situation I described above, in the populated corridor, involved my phone being completely inoperable--no cellular or data service. Flipping to airplane mode and allowing the phone to reconnect to a tower does not fix this issue, nor would it be a solution to disable LTE.

i got this XS in october later started using it in November... for few days it was good the signal used to drop I used to think it was the carrier problem... but after the update to 2.11 the signals dropping for every 15-20 mins for few seconds and even the battery back up has gone down!! It’s just been a month n half and I’m already facing this issue 😡
