iPad air 2 touch screen not responding

I have a Apple iPad model A1566 and recently updated to iOS 12, everything has been smooth, today I went to use the iPad and it would not turn on? I thought perhaps the battery was dead (even though I had used it earlier) so I plugged it up to apple iPad charger, the display came on and showed very low battery, redline, I checked it in about 10 min and it was at 97% already? I unplugged it and went to unlock it and the touch screen would not respond! I have done a hard reset using the home and power buttons however nothing changed, it does respond to buttons but not the screen. I also plugged it up to my PC to see if iTunes would access it and iTunes did not see it since I could not unlock the screen.

Any ideas? an help would be appreciated.
