Reduce size of login screen icons?

Under High Sierra and before that, I could see all my account on the login screen at once. Now, the icons are HUGE and I can only see 3 at a time. Is there a way to change it to display like it did before?

This is another case of Apple wasting space for no apparent reason.

Type the first letter of the account you want to see—it should bring it into view.

Good question.

Agreed, I just updated to Mojave and I also am looking for a way to reduce login icon size. I see other references on other forums to people preferring smaller or configurable icon size instead of scrolling across.

My login screen shows 3 1/2 icons out of 6 for family and friends

... and I also see the experts support big icons some suggesting these are personal laptops and should not have more than one or two logins.
