No input signal in Logic Pro X

Hello

I don't seem to be able to get any input in logic! My Scarlett 2i2 shows as receiving signal, but the faders in logic show nothing. I have read a lot of other discussions where people were having the same problem, however none of their solutions have worked for me.

I have restarted my mac, restarted the programme, tried all of the inputs (including the built in microphone, which does not show any input either), tried with all of the different outputs, tried using different cables/mics/guitars, tried disabling/enabling core audio and software monitoring and unplugging/plugging in my interface. I have tried a few other things too but I can't recall them off of the top of my head. I can't seem to find the problem after all this. All MIDI functions still work, and I can play back anything that I have recorded, before this problem started a few days ago, just fine.

I suspect it is some very minor which I am overlooking, and it might just be a case of someone else pointing it out!

Any help is welcomed!

You missed out one vital bit, but luckily it's in your spec: You just updated to Mojave.

In Mojave you now have to go to System Preferences - Security &Privacy - Privacy tab

And grant access to inputs and outputs (ie your interface). More specifically, under the Privacy tab, click on microphone and give Logic access.

Just noticed that the Focusrite site goes through all this for their gear but it's basically what I've said above. People are saying this is a bug but it's not. It's built in security behaviour for 10.14.x Mojave.

I'm not getting any input/recording either and i been working at it for hours. Im using headphones with the built-in MIC. Gave logic the privacy access. Checked my input/outputs in both system and logic preferences. Tried all three monitoring tabs in preferences. Turned off/on auto input monitoring. Record armed the track. Restarted my Mac. Restarted Logic. Tried resetting logic preferences since i think my cats may have stepped on and turned something off/on. Ive read thru the logic manual, a gang of the help forums, and watched a bunch of youtube videos.

This is not an idiotic control. This is a security feature and a good one. Audio input hijacking is very prevalent in malwares these days and Apple has to do something about it. Especially because it is difficult to detect by the user.

Considering the number of users having problems with that security feature, I'm curious. When you open Logic, you're supposed to have a popup window asking to grant access to the audio input device. One click and it is done. No need to go in System Preferences. This is what I experienced myself. What happened to all those users having problems? They just dismiss the popup or it didn't show up at all? Again, just curious.

BTW, my bet is the next one is audio output access control as this can be used by malwares as audio input as well in some hardware configurations. Saying that, my understanding of the Mac audio architecture, it makes it difficult for malwares to succeed doing it. will see...

Let me know of your experience,
