Hi magical doc,

Thanks for the Apple Support Communities post. I see that you may be having an issue with a third-party scanning app.

Does the app not open? Or is the issue that it opens, but doesn't work?

If the issue is with the app not launching, you'll find some great recommendations in this resource, titled If you can’t open an app .

You may not have the privileges to open the app, the app may be damaged, or it may not be installed.

  • If you aren’t an administrator of your Mac, the administrator may be preventing you from using the app. Contact the administrator of your Mac.

  • You may be trying to open an app that is not registered with Apple by an identified developer. If you want, you can open an app from an unidentified developer.

  • The app may be damaged. Try reinstalling it. If you still can’t open the app, contact the app’s manufacturer.

  • If you recently installed a new version of macOS, some apps may need to be updated or reinstalled to work correctly.

It may be a good idea to try using the built-in macOS scanner function as well. This may help you use the scanner if the ScanSnap Manager app you mentioned doesn't open. Here's how you can Scan images or documents .

Open your scanner

  1. Connect your scanner, plug it in, and turn it on.

  2. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners.

  3. Select your scanner in the list at the left, then click Open Scanner on the right.

If your scanner is also a printer, you may need to click Scan on the right before you can click Open Scanner.

If you don’t see an Open Scanner button, you may need to set up your scanner, or check the documentation that came with your scanner to see how to perform scans.

I hope this helps.

Take care.
