Mac Mini internal speaker not working after upgrade to macOS Mojave

Hello everyone,

I have a Mac Mini (Late 2012) that still works like a charm.

So last night I upgraded my macOS High Sierra in favor of macOS Mojave and all goes well but the internal speaker of my Mac doesn't work anymore.

I don't use it very much times but the fact that with High Sierra it worked an now with Mojave not bothers me a bit.

I checked also in System Preferences > Sound > Output but the Internal Speaker is not in the device's list.

There's anyone that had my same problem or maybe can suggest me something to try?

I would try resetting the SMC a couple more times. You could also try resetting NVRAM.

I just stumbled into a fix, In preferences go to sound, input tab, and uncheck the box at the bottom that says Mute next to Output volume. Once I unchecked that box, all the sounds returned, even on Sirius XM. Crazy!

.I erased my HD and reinstalled the original OS Yosemite. It fixed all the problems, so it is a Mojave issue.

I have a problem with upgrading to Mojave too! Now my external (Apple) disc drive is no longer recognizing blank discs by my Mac Mini and I'm ******. I will probably have to buy an external hard drive, back up my entire Mac, and reinstall High Sierra. It USED TO BE that Apple upgrades were fine and dandy. But that is NO LONGER the case. Thanks Apple. Even your TECHS/Geniuses don't know their way around the new Mojave.

Yes it is.

I tried everything that came to my mind, without success.

So I think it is a Mojave issue.

FWIW, there is a known problem with Mojave and blank disks. You can still burn to them however. Put the files in a folder, right click on the folder and choose "Burn…" however it's worded.

I have the same issue, the audio works great with my air buds, but absolutely nothing through the macbook speakers
