Safari is slow after Mojave update

Hi,

I've installed Mojave two days ago, but I have started to notice Safari getting stuck for about 4-5 seconds after going to the previous page (in sites like YouTube or Reddit). It's strange as I've got a freshly installed OS and a powerful machine (15 inch 2017 MPB).

Does anyone have this problem?

Same here. Safari 12 on Mojave is virtually unusable for me, loads pages very slowly, regularly just stalls and generally has a detrimental effect on the whole system. A good example is YouTube which stutters and runs terribly. Moved across to Chrome and all is well so until this is addressed by Apple I'll be using that.

I've also had a serious issue with safari after updating to Mojave. I've noticed the problem for safari on my MBP is mostly surrounding google owned companies such as youtube, gmail, google search engine, google drive, etc. I use all of these on a daily basis so it would be really helpful if Apple stepped in and figured this problem out. I love to use safari but this issue has really turned the tables.

Since I installed Mojave, iTunes is screwed up too. It only recognizes my iPhone 8Plus and not my Mac Pro laptop, iPod nano, shuffle, touch, or iPod classic whereas everything showed up in devices before. Also I had 19,300 songs in my iTunes library of which 9,320 show up now and only 113 are downloadable because they were purchased in Apple Tunes, my others that I transferred from CD or vinyl are gone! They aren’t even in the cloud! Some of those were rare vinyl from the 30’s thru the 70’s and a lot were ethnic music since I do an ethnic radio program on the web and over the air for the local Balkan community and now they are gone! Apple is getting to be like WINDOWS and MICOSOFT! Let’s release it before all the bugs are out. I contacted Apple tech Support and they had no answer how to solve either issue.

I called in to the Stormfront shop in Carlisle yesterday and asked the question regarding macs and MacBooks being slow after the recent OS update and was told that the file system is optimised for solid-state hard drives and a clean install of the OS could solve things. I was also told that my 2012 MacBook pro would be good for another 3-5 years if upgraded with a solid-state hard drive. I'll have to see how many pennies I have to spare after Christmas!

I have the same problem too on both my iMac(27 inch, late 2013) and MacBook Pro(13 inch,2018,touchbar). I've tried all suggested solutions on both of my devices.. nothing. Since I've updated to Mojave, Safari is extremely slow.I even upgrated my iMac's RAM(+16GB).Everything is slow and not responsive like it should be .Even when I write something on some websites like messenger for example I see the letters some seconds after I press the keys. I tried other internet browsers both Firefox and chrome and both are working fine, so I'm 100% that is safari's problem on this version of Mac OS

Sorry to tell you, but Safari was slow befor Mojave. Die hard apple guy here. Just for the heck of it I decided to try the newest Firefox. Downloaded and installed Firefox, adjusted a few of the settings and ran with it for a while. Amazing the difference. Firefox blows the socks off Safari. No delay in loading web pages, no more annoying web site full page advertisments. Firefox is so noticeable faster than Safari that I began useing it as my main browser.

Having used Mojave for about three months now, I feel I can provide a good update as to what are the issues at hand and what can be solved:

-Everything is slow: disable ad-blocker, and any other extensions (like Honey, which made Amazon unusable)

-Specific websites are slow: try disabling extensions, but sometimes doesn't help. (Thesaurus.com is nearly unusable)

-The notes app is delayed when typing by one second, two seconds, three seconds......unfortunately a major flaw, supposedly (from what an Apple Genius associate told me) caused by significantly more frequent iCloud updating (like on a per-character basis, versus waiting a few seconds)

Final remarks:

-Mojave is beautiful, advanced, intricate

-Mojave is well polished, at the very least design-wise, if not glitch-wise

-Mojave is NOT OPTIMIZED for certain executions (like extensions, notes, websites) which is a major flaw and a massive deterrent to use of the otherwise highly applaudable operating system.
