How often does the Earth complication update itself?

Seems to have been fixed in the newest update 12.1.2. Earth continuously changes without resetting.

After unpairing and re-pairing, then deleting and re-adding the faces with the Earth complication, without a third party Heart Watch complication, everything's working again. I added the Heart Watch complication back to one face, and everything still works.

I rebooted the watch and phone, and deleted all watch faces using the Earth complication. I re-added those faces, and it seems to be working properly again. Next step is to unpair and re-pair the watch if that didn't do it. I opened a case with Apple as well.

Last night it appeared to be working, but this morning wasn’t working again. I unpaired and re-paired the watch, and rebooted the phone, and it seems to be working. I’ll update later today after a few hours of seeing what it does.

I have the same problem with Apple Watch S4. Earth complication does not update.

Can only force an update by going into the Customise panel and then quitting out, or by swiping to another watch face and then back.

Watch is on WatchOS 5.1.1, and iPhone is on iOS 12.1. These are the latest OS versions available at the time of writing this post. The problem has been there when I purchased the Watch in mid-September, 2018, and it still exists after two WatchOS updates (5.0=>5.0.1=>5.1.1)...

Tried rebooting iPhone and Watch a few times, which didn't help.

I can see this problem in 3 different Apple Watch series 4, so it's a bug.

I have the same issue. Ever since updating to 5.0.1, the Earth complication doesn’t update. When I use the watch app to select a different complication, then select Earth again, it refreshes, but never moves after that.

I've kept an eye on this for a while, and now even with existing Face gallery faces with the Earth complication, it sets to its current state, then never advances on its own.

I've switched away from the complication, and put the Moon in its place. I have a case still open, and we'll see where that goes.

Same here. It worked until the incremental OS update. Now spotty at best. It worked all day Friday 10/5 then nothing. I went to an Apple store and picked up three watches and all there had the same problem. Clearly software or data source issue. AQI also goes blank for most of the time. Annoying to have features that don’t work.

Well, I thought it was working. I charged the watch, and after removing it from the charger, the complication went to its then current state, but never moved again until I switched away from and back to that face. Back to square one.
