Final Cut Pro is stuck on 0% rendering and won't export my movie.

As I worked through my project I realized that every time I'd make changes, instead the rendering pie would load and then go blank, over and over again. Now, that my project is finished the pie is still blank and won't allow me to share the video whatsoever. Even though it will go through the process as it prepares the media (After I ask it to share to the desktop) the pie goes back to blank and the video doesn't appear on the desktop whatsoever. Then it sits there at 0% shared capacity and won't budge. I even have to quit the program because it won't let me quit the sharing process via the rendering drop down when you click on the pie.

I tried opening a new project and having it export again but that didn't change the blank pie or the fact that it won't show on the desktop. I tried quitting the program, relaunching, shutting down my computer and restarting. Nothing changes the pie situation.

I really need to upload this video by this weekend, Sunday by the latest. Can anyone help me figure this out?

Like Al said, delete preferences whenever something in FCP X is not right.

Also, sometimes a project just gets corrupted.

You could try exporting sections of your timeline separately by making In and Out points. That may help discern if there is a specific clip or effect with a problem.

If the project is corrupted, selecting all, Copy, new project, Paste. Often the new project is just fine.

Thanks for your reply, both you and AI were somewhat right. I had to reset the preferences, delete the backup files, quit background rendering, and delete all the generated files. When that didn't work I tried exporting piece by piece and it still didn't work. In the end I had to pretty much go back and export up until the point it didn't like. Then I had to put everything else back together by hand. So I had to basically start the better half of the project over again, and that was the only way I got it to work. This just goes to show you that with a high octane program like Final Cut sometimes when it doesn't want to work or choses not to like a certain transition, clip or picture, you have to go back to the drawing board and start over. Anyway, thanks for your answer! 🙂

Thanks, and yes, that was one of the first things I did. I had a similar problem like this before and I realized that it was just that final cut decided to not like one of the motion files I uploaded and then refused to render after that point. So my only real choice was to recreate the back end of the project and reintroduce all of the clips on that end again. I tried copying and pasting it portion by portion too but the program wasn't having it! 🙂 Anyway, thanks for your advice! Thankfully I did work around it but hopefully there's an easier way in the future for others who are having this same problem. My word of advice is if your program stops rendering at any point, stop, don't keep working hoping that it'll fix itself!

I cleared the background render's, set the program so that it won't background render anymore and started up the program again. Now, instead of not rendering at all it will render until it gets to thirty five percent and then stop. I'll find the movie on my desktop but at the thirty five percent point the screen goes black and the music cuts out completely. The rest of the project is then just blank. No matter what I've done this has been the final product. Anyway, that's an update to anyone who's willing to look into my case. Thanks.
