unable to delete email with notifications

Ever since updating to iOS 12 on my iPhone X, I have been unable to delete emails when using the notification from Gmail. It does not matter if I use the notification on the lock screen to delete the email or if its the banner notification, the email does not delete from the Gmail app. I have rebooted, deleted and re-installed the app, enabled and disabled the notifications and nothing has worked. Any one experiencing this or have a solution?

I have this issue too and it's SO frustrating! I first noticed it after an update to Gmail, but I'm not sure if it's a Gmail App or iPhone issue. When I get a banner notification, I swipe down, seeing options for "trash" and "reply." When I click "trash," it removes the banner notification, but the email still continues to show up in my inbox, unread, until I delete it again through the Gmail app. I've actually started looking into other email platforms because it is so annoying to see emails you've already deleted.

I have no clue how to get support for this -- questions on the Gmail community forum have gone unanswered, and you've been waiting a week for a response here.
