AMD FirePro D500 MP4 Encoding problems

I have a 2013 Mac Pro with AMD FirePro D500 GPU (well a couple of them, but just one that's giving me grief).

Running Adobe Creative Cloud, I have been getting horrible glitchy video outputs when rendering to MP4. (which I do all the time).

I've done extensive testing, it seems to be just MP4 (not ProRes), and does not occur when doing Software-Only renders.

Running Software Only *****, so what do I do?

This problem started about the time I upgraded the machine to High Sierra, but this computer has experienced some "glitchiness" in the past.

I recently read about a "quiet recall" of MacPros manufactured between February 8, 2015, and April 11, 2015 due to a bad batch of D500s.

How do I find out if my machine is one of those?

Any other D500 leads?

Thanks,

BB

Hi there, BButrick!
Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having an issue with encoding videos on your Mac Pro and I’m happy to help out! I recommend starting by taking a look at this article with steps to follow to Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac. This will perform checks and stop certain software from starting up automatically. Once you are in safe mode, see if you see the same issue. Also, check out this article with steps for How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac to create a new user and test the issue in the new account to see if the issue is user specific or system wide.
Let me know the results and take care!
