How do I fix a greyed our speaker button?
On Wednesday night, I was having a conversation on my iPhone 7 Plus through Bluetooth is my car. When I was getting out of the car, I changed my audio choice to speakerphone on the dial pad. The phone jumped from speaker to Bluetooth and then the call ended. When I went to call back, the speaker button was greyed out. My caller couldn’t hear me and I couldn’t hear the caller. I discovered that I could only carry out a conversation if I was in the car.
I went to AT&T. One of the agents told me that I would have to take my phone to Apple since technically my calls were still connecting so AT&T wasn’t responsible. I left the store and called Apple. I was connected with a rep named Andrew who was very helpful. At the same time, my mother was on the phone with an AT&T remote rep. Kevin instructed me to reset my network settings. Andrew instructed me to disconnect my Bluetooth &/or shut off my car and try to make a voice memo. I followed both of their instructions to no avail.
The voice memo record button was disabled and greyed out just like the speakerphone button. Andrew suggested that I restore my phone to factory settings. Even after updating my iPhone to the latest version, iOS 12.0, purchasing more iCloud space, going through 2 failed backup attempts, updating my MacBook Pro Retina 13.3 inch from Yosemite to Mojave 10.14, backing up my phone to iTunes, restoring my phone to factory settings, & setting it up as a new phone, my speaker button is still greyed out! I am still unable to hear anyone and vice versa.
I have an appointment with Best Buy tomorrow but in the interim, can someone please help? Has anyone else ever had this issue or something similar? What was the outcome? Any insight shared is much appreciated.
