Memory sucked by a root app

I recently upgraded my operating system to MacOS Mojave. From the first day only, I am noticing a process in the activity monitor named "UGZNtmYR". I don't know how but this process is trying to take all my memory. After every 5 minutes, I have to open the activity monitor to quit it.

Its user is root and that's what worrying me.

Once I tried to quit its parent process but that made my laptop reboot.User uploaded fileUser uploaded file

Hi akshaypmishra,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. From your post, I see you have a concern about a process you see in Activity Monitor.

You mentioned the memory usage for this app seemed a bit high, but depending on what this exact process is, that may be normal. Are you experiencing any notable system performance issues?

This is a great resource that should help you See how apps affect Mac performance, battery runtime, temperature, and fan activity , and it may also help you identify the specific process you're seeing.
If you don't recognize the name of a process, it might belong to macOS or another process that you do recognize. To see the relationships between processes, choose View > All Processes, Hierarchically. If you see that a process belongs to an app, such as Safari or Mail, quit the app before deciding whether to quit any of its processes.

I hope this helps. If you're seeing a performance issue along with the memory usage, knowing a bit more about the exact symptoms you see will help get to the bottom of this.

Take care.
