iOS 12 cellular data list of apps

data list of apps is no longer alphabetical. Now it seems random and take forever to load because it loads data usage. Is there any way to get this back to the plain alphabetical listing and not load data usage? Thank you

I had the same issue... not seeing the apps (in Cellular Data) alphabetically. It was driving me nuts.

I went to the very bottom and hit RESET STATISTICS... and that bounced them all back into alphabetical order.

I literally just did this..... so.....I guess I may have to do this periodically as the data usage changes the order again...

Harold, I totally understand you and it IS frustrating now!!!

For everyone asking why are you looking for an app:

For instance, I usually leave the data to a few weather or map apps off until I want to use them - so I can easily be sure they aren’t running in the background. Or, I want to only have data on for the apps I use most frequently and leave it off for all other apps until I want to use them so again, I can be sure nothing is running in the background - sometimes app updates have had a bug that would make some apps run something in the background until the next update.

THIS is what makes the new data list update SO frustrating! Especially for those who still have a data cap, & are trying to keep those apps they don’t use frequently, from running at all in the background!

If I usually keep a Map app’s data off until I take a trip, then that’s when the alphabetized list would come in really handy - I could quickly scroll down to the app I wanted, because I KNEW where it was at, and turn on it’s data to use for the trip. Then afterward, easily turn it off again.

This new list is maddening for those of us who use our phones this way. If you have 300-some apps, that’s your problem. We others want the old alphabetized list back. And no, we don’t want to have to scroll more to find it at the bottom of everything else!

Apple, at least give us the OPTION of which view we want to use! It’s available (or used to be) on the battery-use view screen (I haven’t checked it lately) - you had the option of the regular screen & then you could click the little clock-looking tab to see more data. That would be much more helpful AND quick - click a switch to see more data about cell use or whatever.

I hate this new cellular data/usage screen! Bring back the alphabetical one to start with, without having to scroll more for it!!!

I’ve had apps update and have a BUG, and be running in the background until the next update or two fixed the issue! I knew because my battery would run down quicker and then be normal again after the next update.

When an app has a BUG and is running in the background you should kill the APP or turn it off in Settings/General/Background App Refresh, which IS in alphabetical order. Turning off cellular data does not kill the app, and, in many cases, it can even increase the amount of energy the app uses uses as it keeps trying to use data and failing. And turning off cellular data for the app does not prevent it from using Wi-Fi. So there is no reason to turn it off in cellular data, and reasons not to.

At the very least, Apple could give us the OPTION of which view we want to start out with:

Alphabetized List View or

Data Usage List View!

Period.

So tell Apple, not other users in this user-to-user forum. We can't do anything about it. https://apple.com/feedback. Apple has a database of requests, and if enough users submit polite requests for a feature it may get added to a future release. Note that abusive messages to feedback most likely just get discarded.

I also don’t have the settings on the bottom of the screen after updating to iOS12. “iCloud Drive “ is the last section at the bottom. And, I agree that it takes a long time to load the list of apps. Every time you switch to another screen and go back to the list, the spinning load icon starts all over. Below are two screen shots to ilustrate.

Open the "Settings". Do not tap on "Cellular". Scroll down. You will see an alphabetical listing of apps. Tap on the one whose settings you want to change.

I also prefer to see my Cellular List in alphabetical order. Data usage of each app isn’t important. I have PLENTY of storage. I like to scroll through the list in alphabetical order. I am VERY disappointed to not find an option for choice of organization. PLEASE, PLEASE add this option to Organize by USAGE or by ALPHABET.

Or, you could just go to the top level of Settings and scroll down to the alphabetical list.

So yeah, it shows apps that you use that use most data, then it shows the remaining apps in alphabetical order. Still not sure if the first list is alpha or by data percentage.

How can you not be sure? Just go to Settings/Cellular and LOOK. The actual data usage in Settings/Cellular in GB/MB is listed under each app. What is the order?

Either way, please switch it back Apple. We don’t like it.

Who is WE? You certainly don’t speak for ME!
