How do I permanently block Bing?

On a current software installed MacBook Pro, I've tried to block Bing in Terminal, and have no virus' / malware found with the standard apps (I did have some malware, it's deleted now). No extensions are listed in my preferences, I'd be quite happy never seeing Bing again. Google continues to redirect to Bing, so I'm unable to use it at all. I've looked for recent software / apps downloads, and not seeing anything. Having an easy block feature like on iPhones / iPads would be helpful in the desktop software.

I now consider Bing to be malware, even though it may not be their fault.

Sometimes there are corrupt preference files. Try moving these two files to the desktop then reboot.

They are located in your Home folder Library / Preferences. In Finder, click on Go then on Go to Folder and type in ~/Library/Preferences and scroll down to find them.

If it works you can trash them. To restore your preferences, put them back in the same folder.

You can also try Safe mode to see if the problem occurs there. Safe mode also repairs some things so it could fix it.

P.S. You could also try selecting DuckDuckGo as your search engine and see if it switches to Bing.

By the way, in System Prefs / General, do you have Safari set as your browser of choice?
