Have you already tried a forced restart of your iP8?
Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then, press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.
When it appears, release the Side button, wait for your iphone to restart, then test your front camera.
If you get no help AND if your front camera is not obstructed (case, screen protector), have your device inspected at your most convenient Apple Store or Authorized Service Provider. They'll check it out and give you all the available options:
