Mojave freezes on login screen

First see if you can boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode. If that works try to reboot normally.

If still unsuccessful boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down), select Disk Utility and run First Aid on the drive. Reboot normally.

If still unsuccessful, again boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down) and reinstall the system.

Also same problem here! Updated to Mojave on Sunday...

• Tried to reboot in safe mode, no luck, still stuck!
• Tried to reinstall mojave, also nothing.
• Tried First Aid, no problems, but still stuck on login screen.

I found solution for my case:

I load in recovery, mount Macintosh HD and remove:

mv /Library/Extention/*.kext /ext_bkp

mv /Library/LaunchAgents/*.plist /ag_bkp

mv /Library/LaunchDaemons/*.plist /d_bkp

and it boot correctly, but I need to reinstall some software.

In my case I have this problem when boot hungs (cmd+v verbose mode):

I have major problems with Mojave. Not only do I have the login freeze problem multiple times per day but google chrome has ceased working reliable (among other applications). Is there any way to roll back to the previous OS?

I'm getting the exact same thing. Freeze on login screen or just a dark screen and it won't wake up - have to power off manually.

Chrome also ***** since the install - some sites won't render at all, others have poor performance. Haven't seen any updates from Chrome that might help.

This is happening for me as well. I have already reinstalled Mojave and my laptop still freezes at login screen when resuming a session after the lid is closed. My laptop is a mid 2015 MacBook Pro. This is incredibly annoying and needs to be fixed!

I logged a support request to Apple - on the chat, they asked if I had the latest update - The update was labeled as FaceTime and emoji features - but they also said there may be some bug fixes included. I was doubtful, since this was a pretty specific bug, and I would have expected to have read about it somewhere.....

In any case. I upgraded to 10.14.1.....and I haven't had a recurrence in a week. For me, it's been fixed.

Unfortunately I’m already on the latest Mojave update. The reinstall of Mojave wasn’t a full wipe/reinstall so I’m not sure if something was corrupted when upgrading from High Sierra. Thank you for your response but this issue still needs to be looked into by development. Hopefully they push out an update soon that fixes this issue.

My laptop is doing the same thing but it’s a 2018 extremely upsetting as I use my computer for work. Wouldnt it be magical if apple fixed these issues prior to releasing their monsters on the public. Lol

This is beginning to be a complete disaster. No fixes yet? 10.14.1 and my macbook pro locks up everytime it goes to sleep or I lock screen. Have to completely force shut down and reboot. Have never had any problems in nearly 4 years with this macbook until this Mojave "update".

I upgraded to 10.14.2 and this problem has occurred again. For me it's intermittent and happens after I've woken my macbook from sleep.

I don't think the solution of booting into safe mode is what's needed as the issue seems to occur when the machine is being woken from sleep.

Same here. I've upgraded to 10.14.2 and the issue still occurs. Mine freezes when trying to wake it from the screensaver being on. I don't let mine go to sleep, so it's just the screensaver when mine does it.

Apple should take this issue on priority and fix it as soon as possible. This issue is seen by most of the MacBook customer who are using Mojave.

Expecting a hotfix soon.

Mac screen freezes at login password screen when waking it from sleep(lid close and open) for 1min-2mins then resumes back to password then logs in.

Apple needs to fix this ASAP! I am the System Admin for my company and have rolled Mojave on 250 Macs. I am getting this reported back to me from multiple users. I thought by now there would be a solution.

same here. got the new air 2018 and Often when I am trying to wake up, the macbook freezes on login screen. The only thing you can see is the spinning circle. I hope new Mojave update will help us...
