Can't download El Capitan

I have a Macbook Mid 2007 10.7.5 and i read i could get High Sierra through El Capitan. But i try to download it and it says it's not compatible or something like that.

Late 2008 aluminium macbook won't upgrade to el capitan I have a late 2008 macbook which I've checked numerous times that it supports El Capitan, but every time I download it and install it everything seems successful, but I check the specs and it's still on Yosemite. Can anybody help?

Your computer can’t be upgraded past 10.7.5.
