Notes app opens from notifications

is this happening to anyone else? When I try to view an app from the notification, it opens the notes app,

iPad Pro 12.9-inch Wi-Fi, Cellular, iOS 12

Hello, it looks like no one has responded to your question. Here are a couple things that might help others answer your question:

1. Is it only opening the Notes app, despite the notification being for another app, Messages for example?

2. Have you attempted any troubleshooting, such as restarting or any other steps?

Doesn’t happen all of the time but seems to only happen when trying to view from locked home screen. Only opens the notes app not the actual app for which the notification was received. Only occurs with iPad not iPhone. Has been happening for like a year if not more. Stopped for a while but started back recently. I am usually on a beta version of iOS so I’m not sure if it also occurs with the actual release. Used feedback assistant with screen recording of the problem attached but no response from Apple.

If you press with you Apple Pencil on the notification screen the notes app will automatically open for taking a quick note. You can change that by going to settings, notes, access notes from lockscreen.
