Unfortunately I don’t have another Mojave machine to compare, but since installing Mojave on my 2012 Macmini internet Speed over WiFi has dropped dramatically. I have fibre broadband which is very fast normally. But sites like YT are so sluggish.
Any ideas? Is anyone experiencing similar.

Have you tried holding down Option when you select WiFi in the menu bar and checked Wireless diagnostics?
Also removing /etc/sysctl.conf as mentioned elsewhere in this thread has helped many, many people. with this and similar issues.
I also had serious network issues since the Mojave upgrade. The iMac was about unresponsive + no network
After investigation the cause was 'old network tricks' and/or network optimization utilities (f.ex. Apple Broadband Optimizer).
All was solved by deleting (or renaming) /etc/sysctl.conf then rebooting the Mac.

None of the "solutions" (remove some file, reboot etc) to your regression of functionality to garbage Majova (I understand that add a dark theme is probably a major feature...) to fix the wifi issue work on my MBP 2018... But what a surprise when I use the Wireless Diagnostics in the background, everything works perfectly, I understand why Apple company decreases of sell when I see the poor quality they provide in regards of the price of their product.
Have a 2013 Mac and the problems continue....sick of it I confess...problems with Wifi, with other programs...java....and yesterday, some weird pixels appeared in the dock...really strange...have do restart OSx....And have also some issues on iPhone 6...freezing screen, closing apps suddenly....I start to think that these things are happening too often...
I'm experiencing almost the same problem with my Macbook pro 2017! Extreme instability on wi-fi connection, connection errors, I'm not even able to download files with 5mb for example.. will downgrade back to high sierra until it's fixed, it's been impossible to work.
What a joke to have the last MBP (3000€) with wifi issue. The only way to fix this issue by myself is to use my phone for usb connection. Sure because in 2 ******* months this ******** company called Apple is not able to fix probably the worst issue I never have before and I used a lot of different OS. If it wasn't apple **** I will just remove the OS and try another distrib.
For several days I tried to install Mojave on our 2014 iMac. After reaching about "8 minutes remaining" I get a message that "Ann error occured validating the installer data. The download is either damaged or inconmplete. Redownload the installer and try again." That certainly doesn't work! I was thinking about getting my wife a new Mac Air for the holidays, now I think I'll consider other options.
After many calls with Apple came to the conclusion that Mojave is not compatible with a 2014 iMac. Ha to down grade back to High Sierra. Apple is losing control of quality control.
Same problem here with MBP Mid 2012 non retina. With Ethernet no problem!
I see you mentioned problems with java - can you elaborate as I've not updated to Mojave yet but as a Java developer I need to know what issues I might face when I do.

It shows “no hardware detected” when the mouse is hovering the WiFi icon. Also, how do remove /etc/sysctl.conf ?
