iMovie Chapter Markers in 10.x ???

Topic: Chapter Makers - Renaming them in iMovie on a Mac.

HOW do I rename the markers?

Reason: Using iMovie to make my movie. Final Cut Express appears no longer to be working, hence using iMovie for a fairly straightforward movie. Not prepared to buy Final Cut at the moment.

Backstory: Last iMovie I made was a year ago, with minimal editing. I placed markers in my movie then. The markers appeared NOT to be rename-able, I did not rename them. (I'm assuming these are not beat markers). Makes for an ugly movie & confusing to anyone who gets a copy.

In last year's movie on DVD: The Markers appeared as a numbered list in a separate screen, without titles, but with space for titles. This leads me to believe these are indeed chapter markers.

There is a video on youtube that shows a clickable icon (which I do not get) to rename the markers, refers to iMovie 11. Other posts here say that iMovie 11 is the iWork versions name for iMovie 9. This implies one should be able to rename markers into something useful.

Current OS & Software: iMovie 10.1.9 (latest?). Just loaded MacOS 12 to see if that changes anything (it doesn't).

I finally got back to this post. Sorry for the delay.

You mentioned the earlier version of iMovie had markers. I must've used that in a previous movie.
Though the markers were empty. Unnamed markers are close to useless, since one has no criteria for their selection.

Appreciate your time. I will visit the MetaDoctor app.

Hi,

iMovie 10 does not have a chapter markers feature, so you can't edit the markers there. iMovie 9 does have a chapter markers feature, but I cannot get iMovie 9 to open with Mojave -- thus can't edit the markers there either.

There is an app called MetaDoctor that you can get at the Apple onine app store for about $4.99. I've not used it but others report that it works for adding chapter markers:

If you cannot rename, you might be apple to replace the old markers with new ones named as you want.
