I have an XS Max, and sometimes while playing videos over wifi, the video will stop and I get a message saying to check my wifi signal or the signal strength is weak. I checked my wifi and the signal is strong and I get 125Mbps up and down. I've already cleared out my wifi connections on the phone and reconnected. What would be causing me to get the signal strength message?

You are describing exactly the same problems I have and that the wifi-speed comes back when the airplane mode is turned on.
But the difference is, that i use iPhone 6S. Hope a software-upgrade will fix my problem to.
Did you ever hear back from the technicians you spoke to after providing the logs they requested? I’m here to report that my issue has still not been resolved. Was hoping that 12.1.1 might have addressed it, but it clearly hasn’t. I’m now debating whether I want to try and get a replacement phone or a brand new router. I still have not experienced this WiFi issue on any other WiFi network but my home WiFi. It works fine on my college campus’ WiFi network, and it works fine on the WiFi network at my fiancé’s parents’ house. I’ve tested it extensively on both for several hours doing the same types of tasks that normally cause my WiFi to hang up and stop working at home, and it just does not happen anywhere else but my house. It’s just weird that multiple other iOS devices in the same house and room do not exhibit this behavior. It’s only the XS Max.
None of this helps. The 5GHZ connection drops out constantly. I have contacted apple support and they too indicate there maybe a problem. The latest iOS release didn’t resolve this issue either for a $1200 phone. Sad!! Samsung seems to be a better option if this isn’t fixed. My 4G/LTE is also slow and slower than my iPhone 7plus. I have no issues with the iPhone 7plus on the same network in the same location
Please have a look at my last response and try some of the solutions. I'm willing to bet it's a wifi config issue in the router. It should just work, but to get what you need, a few settings changes may be required.
I have the same problem,I tried everything, restarted iphone, put it on old icloud, set it as a new device, changed the network settings and absolutely nothing helps me, will my apple give me a new iphone because this is impossible
I have had the exact same problem with my iPhone XS max. It’s not only the videos that are hanging up, it’s even basic surfing. I can no longer receive any wifi signal while in my kitchen 2 rooms from my router. It’s blazing fast with wifi disabled. Since my ATT data plan is not unlimited this is very frustrating.
i have XS Max and few days before my iphone did not get the wifi network its say again and again check your connection i checked lots of time but did not work i hope you will shortly solve this problem
I just got the iPhone X’s max yesterday and took it to work and can’t even get 1 mbps on the WiFi here. My iPhone X gets 10 mbps. Can’t do anything on WiFi with this phone.

I’m experiencing the same problem. I’m using the exact same WiFi and using the exact same brand of case as I was with my iPhone 7 Plus and I NEVER had this issue with my Ip7+
Agreed! By far the most I’ve ever paid for a phone and I can’t watch a short video or use data when I’m not near WiFi.
Doesn't work, tried so many times with Apple Support being online as well
