My track pad only works when plugged in. System Preferences says track pad 100% charged. Can this be fixed, or should I buy a new trackpad? Using on a late 2013 MacBook Pro.

The most important part here is not the age of the machine, per se, but rather if it has a newer MacOS than 10.11. Please let us know what MacOS you are running, and if the trackpad is, indeed, the Magic Trackpad 2.

MacOS High Sierra - 10.13.6. Not sure if I have a Magic Track Pad 2, but my issue only occurred in the last month or so. I have had the track pad much longer than that.
The link I posted has a picture of the Magic Trackpad 2 at the top. If the surface of the trackpad is white, it's the Magic Trackpad 2.
