AirPort Disk: Connection failed error message+

Have my network set-up with no issues, except that my AirPort Disk keeps disconnecting on a daily basis and when I try to reconnect I get a connection failed error message. I've checked password, etc. Reconfigured it different ways, still this is a daily occurence.

I have three Macs on my network and I can't reconnect with any of them when this happens-same error message. I have the Airport Disk Utility installed on all three. Sometimes a restart will fix it, sometimes not.

Am still trying to figure out what causes the AirPort disk to disconnect to begin with...perhaps the computer going into sleep mode?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Susan,

Saw your post in another discussion about the problems you are having and I have a question. Do you have a .Mac account and do you have the iDisk Utility installed?

In the other discussion, the other person was describing problems he was having and his work around involved the using the iDisk Utility but I'm now wondering if there is a conflict with the iDisk Utility and disks connected to Extreme base stations.

Okay. I, like you, also have .Mac and don't have the iDisk utility installed but unlike you, in my limited experimentation with the AirPort disk feature, have had no problems.

What volume format is your AirPort using, Mac OS Extended or MS-DOS?

Also, in AirPort Utility, do you have 'Advertise disks globally using Bonjour' turned on (checked)? It can be found under the File Sharing tab on the Disks screen. If not, can you turn it on and see if that makes any difference.

I am having the same issue. The Airdisk does not spin down. Turning the drive off then on sometimes brings it back. This happens on all three USB drives I have tried. It appears to be a software problem.

I'm having the same problem. I have .Mac account and I use the iDisk utility. My AirDisk volume is Mac OS Extended. I don't have 'Advertise disks globally using Bonjour' turned on (checked) but all three of my Macs can see and write to the Airdisk. The printer off of the same USB Hub works fine.
I suspect that it is indeed a firmwear problem and I hope it will be fixed soon.

I don't have a .mac account either and I'm having the same problem with my Lacie. I finally connected the disk back to my iMac directly. There is another thread named: Airport Extreme 'n' Disk Utility that discusses this. This seems to be a generic problem with airdisk. I hope Apple fixes it.
