How to stop power button from ending calls?

I upgraded my iPhone 8 to ios 12 a few days ago and ever since, every time I’m on a call and press the power button to turn off the screen, it also disconnects the call. In prior iOS versions, anytime that started happening all I had to do was force a restart and it would fix itself, but now that’s not helping. Any other options?

this is by design. You cannot change it.
