iPhone Xs Earpiece rattle/crackle/distortion

I was having this issue too. Do any of you still have the film on your screen or maybe a screen protector that covers the speaker or isn’t attached to the screen super well? Mine was rattling like crazy and I realized it was the film that came on mine causing it!

No point going again and again. I had an apointment with them.After several arguments they have played the same song on of their own iphonexs and noise was the same..Seems like this issue is in every handset.. it looks like if you keep the volume two bars down sound comes out ok. May be apple fix it in one of the future software updates but dont know yet

Not yet. I had another call with Apple Support today. They are going to escalate my support ticket and I will be contacted again on Friday this week.

To all of you: Please do also contact Apple support so that they get aware of this issue. The more people report it the higher the chance that they will come up with a fix in the near future.

So I had a call with Apple today. They told me that they got some feedback from development. Development is aware of this issue and taking care of it, since a lot more people have reported it in the meantime. Unfortunately, they do not have a solution yet.

Nevertheless, everyone who as an open case regarding this will be informed by Apple once they have a solution. Of course, it does not solve the issue for now but I am very happy that they are now taking care of it and have realized that there is an actual problem (be it software or hardware related) that affects not only a few people out there.

Bought new Iphone xs.. not from Apple store.. having issues with speaker crackling noise on high volume.. dont know what to do.. seems like so many people are having this issue.. must have checked this forum before buying this expensive product.. thinking of taking my phone to apple store

So your issue was resolved by removing the screen protector? I doubt that this is a general solution since some people have exchanged their phones two or even three times and still had the same problem. I was also able to test it with a XS in a store of a authorized Apple reseller - same issue in this case.

I too have had this issue and its driving me crazy. No screen protector or cover on the phone and brand new. I tested a colleagues on and the same issue on the iPhone XS. My previous 7 Plus did not have this issue and I tested with it yesterday.

Just read a blog about a few possible fixes, so running newest update to see if that helps now.

Apple replaced mine, it is slightly better but the distortion is still there. It’s really disappointing that such an expensive phone has such a basic issue.

I have exact the same issue. I was trying to get some help from Apple support. They sent me to an authorized reseller who was not able to help me. They did just a standard audio hardware check and said that "everything seems to be ok". No, it's not ok!

Did you solve this issue in the meantime? This rattle is very annoying. I've been trying several things to stop it but didn't have success yet.

I very much doubt... i have checked my phone with different tunes and calls.. the upper speaker is the worst one i believe.. i have booked an apointment in apple store for wednesday to see what they say..

i have this same issue, on my second one and still have the same issue! would really like to know how you go getting yours fixed.

Any update? I was thinking of returning the phone today. Same issues with X and XS.
