Notification settings page is blank

Guys, I am using an iphone x that was recently upgraded to ios 12. Previously, the notification for my Instagram was turned off, and I decided to turn it on.

However, when I went to settings>notifications>instagram, the page was entirely blank. There was no button/option at all for me to turn on the notification. I tried some other apps that had notifications turned off, and they too had a totally blank page. FYI, I did access my Instagram app and turned on the notifications in there. However, in my phone settings app, the notification page for instagram remained blank.

I tried re-starting the phone and also doing a hard reboot, but it was still the same. Should I delete and re-install the instagram app and all the others that have this problem?

iPhone X, iOS 12, null

Hello lunatiq23,

Thanks for clarifying the issue. Since this only started after the update, I recommend reinstalling the iOS using iTunes. The reason we need to use iTunes for this step is to get a new copy of iOS installed to your device. Please make a backup of your data prior to doing this step. You can make a backup in iCloud or iTunes using this article: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Once your data is backed up, you can reinstall the iOS using this help article: If you can‘t update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Please pay close attention when you reach step 4 which says:

When you see the option to Restore or Update, choose Update. iTunes will try to reinstall iOS without erasing your data. Wait while iTunes downloads the software for your device. If the download takes more than 15 minutes and your device exits the connect to iTunes screen, let the download finish, then repeat step 3.

Once your iOS is reinstalled, test if the issue is still occurring. Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.

Hello lunatiq23,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help with Instagram and Notifications. With the troubleshooting you already tried, and since the issue is only affection that one app, yes, I agree you should delete the app.

Then, restart the iPhone. Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Then, reinstall Instagram. Redownload apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books from the App Store, iTunes Store, and Apple Books - Apple Support

Thanks and have a wonderful day.

Thanks Allen,

However, the issue is not limited to just Instagram itself. It appears all my other apps with notifications turned off have a blank page when I go the notifications setting to try and turn them on. That would mean I would need to delete and re-install quite a number of apps, which I will probably not do as it is too time consuming. Hope Apple will address this issue though in the next ios update.

Thanks
