AirDrop missing/disabled

My daughter's iPhone seems to have its AirDrop disabled, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to enable it. The problem started with her iPhone 6S and iOS11 (alouth maybe it was broken in iOS10 too, never checked)..and it wasn't a big priority to have fixed so I just ignored it. Well we just recently replaced her 6S for the new XS, and again the settings for AirDrop on nonexistent. The icons for it are in the notification center, but they are greyed out and won't respond to clicks. Please see the screen shots below where it shows its settings clearly missing, along with the CarPlay, but I don't have a car which supports this so I don't care about that:

In case it matters...the iPhone 6S was backed up to iTunes and then had its settings restored onto the iPhone XS.

Also pleas enote I tried to do the "Reset All Settings" in the About > Reset ...but that did nothing

Sorry, my reply was for a different poster.

Coming to the missing Airdrop, have you already tried a forced restart of her XS?

Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then, press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.

and/or

Have you tried to reset network settings?

Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

When done, restart your iphone.

Please let me know how it goes
