Can anyone tell me a way to transfer my messages from my iPad to my iPhone. I have ONE i/text message strand that I would like to "get back" after I deleted it from my iPhone. I have erased content and loaded a back-up that should have had the message, but it was not included when it all was reset. I have done this multiple times. I am hoping to do this for free.

The only way to restore the message is if you have a backup that contained the message and restore to that backup. Seems you have already tried that. You cannot move messages from the iPad to the iPhone. You can look into iMessages in iCloud, Keep all your messages in iCloud - Apple Support although I'm not sure how that will work from the iPad. You can read up on it and decide whether or not to try it. Understand that it will use significant space in iCloud.

If you are already using messages in iCloud then beware they will not be included in a backup and deletions will be permanent across all your devices using messages in iCloud.
