Can't open iCloud files on Mac - damaged

I have iCloud Drive activated on both of them, using it mainly for Pages and Numbers files. I've been working on these files both on the Mac and my phone for several months, but recently more and more of them are getting corrupted on the Mac. I can open them fine in my phone, read and edit them and they are up to date. But when I try to open them on the computer, a message occurs stating that ["file name" is damaged and can not be opened]. No matter what I do with the files, I can't open them. As I said, they work fine on the phone and even on iCloud website.

Does anyone have a clue about why they are corrupted on the Mac?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS Sierra (10.12.6), iPhone X iOS 11.2.5

You have adware installed.

Run EtreCheck again.

In the Sidebar, click the Security button.

Locate and remove entries under Adware and Unsigned files.

Click the “Remove” button.

Why you shouldn’t download from a Torrent site

I would uninstall Spigot. It tends to interfere with the computer's operation while providing minimal to no benefit. Most long time posters recommend not using antivirus software or cleaning software such as CleanMyMac.

Thank you so much for your answer. I tried both suggestions. I created a new admin user and logged in to iCloud, but the problem still occurred. Couldn't opened the files there either. Then I tried to restart the computer in safe mode, and the same thing happened. So, can still open the files on my phone and on my Mac using the iCloud website, but when I try to open them from the iCloud Drive folder in Finder, the Mac says that they're damaged.

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply.
