Continuous chime when charging

My series 3 chimes about every minute when the battery is full and on the charger. This gets very annoying at night. I have to take the watch off the charger to stop the chime which gives me less battery for the day. This problem started with watchOS 5.0.1

I think there are two possible causes,

1. If this is the same tone you get when first connecting the charger, the charger may be disconnecting then reconnecting (at least logically if not physically), so it would be worth testing with a different USB power adapter and magnetic cable, according to what you have available. I know you have the adapter which charges your iPhone, so that would be perfect for testing.

2. Something actually wrong in the watch, either software or hardware. Software is a prime suspect because it started with the update. You could try unpairing and re-pair to your phone again to force reinstalling the Watch software. If that still doesn't work the last resort is Contact Apple Support and arrange to get it checked by Apple. Don't just skip to calling Apple Support, make sure you already tried the earlier steps because they will want to try these first.

Don't forget you can charge your watch at any time, you don't need to wait until overnight for testing the fixes!

I've reached out and asked for a replacement. Given that they've acknowledged there is an issue, but haven't been able to explain it, or tell me they can fix it- I find that an acceptable request.

It's been about a week, and after 2 emails to them- they've never reached back out.

This is not the Apple I grew to know and love. Their high prices used to be justifiable considering they were so cutting edge and had exemplary customer service. That is beginning to fade.

It was a new watch but not in the usual retail box. It came in a small box with only the watch. No charger, cable or bands. They had me keep my original ones.

I am using a surge protector but it doesn’t matter what power source I’ve used. I’ve even tried external batteries. All the same result. Once it it hits full charge it starts chiming.

Her’s is not a Nike. Just rose gold.

I’d be interested in how you contacted executive relations. I really don’t want the same run around I got before. Felt like I had to prove I wasn’t crazy.

It’s beyond inexcusable that this issue as been reported by various people for going on a year plus now and Apple not only has failed to find a fix but as not even acknowledged it as a problem either. We’ve been an Apple family for as long as I can remember (preceding the first iPhone and iPod even... We’ve begun migrating away from their ecosystem because most of what they do comes off half baked and gets abandoned soon after they showcase it. Siri is now waaaaay behind Google and Amazon, News+ is getting panned, AppleTV+ sounds like an also-ran, MacBook keyboards that fail due to dust/small debris, and a watch that seemingly can’t handle a charge cycle properly without having a charge/stop charge fit (rechargeable batteries is a fully mature tech, yet Apple is struggling with it). But every year they still troll out the same tools on stage to show that the iPhone has gotten .01 mm thinner and that they’ve added new talking emojis

I went to apple today and told him my issue. He misunderstood me at first and said it will always chime when it reaches full charge and I said no it chines over and over and over. He the. said it was the charger. Sigh!! I told him about this thread. I find it hard to believe they know nothing about this issue. You know how he told me to resolve it?? Put it on mute... duh!!!! I was using it as a. Alarm clock.

I'm still having the problem despite running the most up to date version on my series 3. Only used apple chargers and problem started after one of the updates several months ago. Had hoped that the recent updates would have solved the problem by now but not so. The only thing I would say is that it seems to be happening less often than at first - perhaps only 1 in every 3 nights and at completely random times. Baffling!

So I am yet another Apple Watch disgruntled customers. Apple know what the fault is. As with any faulty product they should and must offer a fix or replacement. It is definitely the plastic charger and is a joke as it is not fixable. Over 500 people with the same complaint sounds like a class action to me. So APPLE I will not buy another watch. You clearly have no regard for your customers.

THE issue is not fixed with a stainless charger. I have a stainless watch and charger and an alloy watch and charger and no combination changes the problem. It is also intermittent and sometimes more dings and other times less. Whatever the problem is, software or hardware, Apple are fast becoming complacent regarding customer service and it seems that most American companies require a class action in order to 'get their finger out'.

I'm simply waiting for an alternative to Apple products and then all my Apple products hit the bin.

Apple TV streaming problems, Watch problems. Stick to computers Apple, its the only thing that is consistent
