Recording screen- adjust data rate?

Recording screen- How can you adjust data rate of the recording? And size of the movie?

On my 15" MacBook Pro it records at about 13mbs and a very large image. Can I reduce the data rate and length and width size of the screen recording?

Thank you

Larry

Thank you, dialabrain . . . actually I'm a little familiar with the QuickTime option to record the screen. But I was playing around with the Mojave options!

Hmmm . . . but even with the QuickTime Player options you suggest - where can I adjust the recording settings where I choose what data rate I want to use, or image (movie) size I want to use. Like 1080 or 720 for physical size of playback screen. Or record capture rate of 5mbs or 10mbs, etc. Like you do using Compressor.

Can you adjust these variables in QuickTime ??

Thanks,
