Bing Removal

I have a Mac, running High Sierra, version 10.13.6, Processor 3.5, memory 8 GB, storage 1 TB

My problem is Bing, it has completely taken over and will not let Google search. Google starts to show results for a slight second, then Bing takes over and shows it's own terrible results...its redirecting for some reason. I've done everything I could find to delete bing, it won't go away. Any suggestions are much needed....

You are welcome. I definitely would not use Combo Cleaner for Mac. I realize the instructions can look very complicated, but they aren't as complicated as suggested in the article.

Safari/Reset Safari is now Safari/Clear History.

Try to work through the 2 articles and if you get to a spot where you have a specific question, post back and hopefully someone will be able to help.

Hi Eric, Thanks for the quick response. You say use manual uninstall only, but it looks like the link you sent also suggests using Combo Cleaner for Mac. Is this in addition to trying to do it manually? Also, it says to do it only if you are advanced computer savvy. Hmmm, that I am not. Sorry, I'm so frustrated at this point and know there is no easy way, but could you give me a few more details as to how to do it manually. Thanks again.

So I've done all the clearing and removing of all apps and history that seem suspicious. There was never a Bing or Trovi (Trovi comes up quickly after the Google search starts, and then goes to Bing) I see nothing else to do other than reset my entire computer to factory default (hate that idea) or download a virus helper.....My daughter had it on her account also, same computer, running Google Chrome, but was able to fix it with her search engine settings. Safari on my account has all the right settings but keeps shooting to Trovi and Bing......seriously don't know where to go from here. Any other suggestions or a recommendation of legit virus software/cleaner of junk app.....?

You can try Malwarebytes, but I'm not sure if it clears the Bing redirect or not.

Download this program which was written by Thomas Reed, a long time poster. The program will search for malware/adware The program will do the work for you which makes it easy. There is no reason to leave it installed once troubleshooting is finished. The free version doesn't update itself. If you need it again, you can download it again.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac 10.10 and later

Malwarebytes uninstall

Ignore the downloads except for Malwarebytes and follow the manual instructions.

Trovi Search uninstall

Trovi Search uninstall (2)
