Siri (CarPlay) adds word along with punctuation

iOS 12.0, iPhone 6 (16A366), CarPlay

When using CarPlay to respond to a message if I want to add punctuation (.,?,!, etc.) Siri now adds the word (period, question mark, exclamation point, etc.) to the text message. This did not seem to happen prior to the iOS12 update. As an example on September 28 at 15:26 EST I sent a text message using Siri. In that message I wanted to capitalize specific letters. Instead of sending "Would you want me to stop at SB?" Siri sent "Would you want me to stop at capital S capital B?" Another text message sent using Siri and CarPlay was sent on October 5 at 17:55. Instead of sending "How am I wrong?" Siri sent "How am I wrong question mark" I do not use Siri to send text messages outside of CarPlay and I am not sure if others have had this issue?
