Lightning earphones to 3.5 mm female port

Just bought a new $1000 iPhone X which comes with Lightning earphones.

I want to use my new Lightning earphones to connect to my MacBook Air 3.5 mm female port.

I don't want to carry around two sets earphones, one for my new iPhone, another for my MacBook Air.

Please provide a solution.

The adapter you reference is for connecting 3.5 mm male to a Lightning port. I've known I could always buy an adapter to use my old headphones (old technology) with my new iPhone.

However, I was hoping to use the new Lightning earphones for both.

Sounds like it's not possible.

I know what you wanted to do. As I said, its not possible to go from a 3.5mm headphone jack on your Mac to the Lightning Headphones.

The option is to use standard headphones for both, if you do not want to carry a second pair of headphones just for the Mac.

Carry one set of 3.5mm compatible headphones and use the Lightning to 3.5mm jack for the iPhone:Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter - Apple

The unfortunate truth is that going from Digital output, to analog is fairly simple, which is why the adapter is simple.

Going from analog audio to digital is not, as that requires circuitry and processing that would make an adapter pretty large and unwieldy. That means there is no way to go from 3.5mm headphone jack to lightning headphones.
