Would files on my desktop be stored in iCloud?
My hard drive has crashed. There were files stored on my desk top of my macbook pro. Are those files stored in the cloud?

It depends on whether you had iCloud Drive and Desktop and Documents turned on in your MacBook before it crashed. See: Add your Desktop and Documents files to iCloud Drive - Apple Support
If you are unsure, you can use any computer, log into www.icloud.com and look in the iCloud Drive app there.
